A 2 hour drive covering about 70 km from Gangtok  is the quaint town of Ravangla. It has perfect views of Mt. Kanchenjunga and many other mountain peaks." says HolidayIQ reviewer Arjun Paul. 

Ravangla also attracts a lot of Himalayan birds such as verditer flycatchers, blue-fronted redstarts, blue whistling thrush, green-backed tit and white-browed fantails. Also, the 'Cha-chu' or hot sulphur springs at Ralang and Borong are winter spas with healing properties are a must visit.

50 km from Ravangla you reach a place with a brilliant view of the Kanchenjunga, Pelling. The is base camp for expeditions into Khanchedzonga National Park and to the Mighty Mountain itself. 40 km from Pelling is Bermoik Martam, a pristine little settlement in West Sikkim. If you are looking to experience authentic Sikkimese village life in the lap of the Himalayas and a grand panoramic view of Mt. Kanchenjunga, then this is the place to be.

The quaint village was once a popular and revered religious hub of the Limboo people. The Barsey Rhododendron Sanctuary occupies 104 square km in the Singalila Range in western Sikkim. It borders on Nepal to the west, and the state of West Bengal to the south across the Rambong Khola stream. Enter through Hilley, which is 40 km from Bermoik Martam, and Barsey is only 4 km trek from this point along an undulating path shaded by different species of rhododendron.
