How Smart Travellers Are Way Different Than Glamourous Travellers

dailytelegraph.com.au dailytelegraph.com.au
There's a stark difference between the priorities of a glamorous traveller and a smart one. Here's a list of a few differences.

How Smart Travellers Are Way Different Than Glamourous Travellers:

  1. Sikkim
  2. Harishchandragad Fort, Malshejghat (Maharashtra)
  3. Ponmudi (Kerala)
  4. Ratnagiri (Maharashtra)
  5. Kashmir (Jammu & Kashmir)
  6. Candolim Beach (Goa)
  7. Arunachal Pradesh

1. Glamourous Travellers Care About High Heels And Loafers Than Much Needed Gear

Travel essentials are the first priority for the smart ones whereas, glamourous travellers would pack what would make them look good. HolidayIQ Traveller Deepankar shares about visiting Sikkim, “Avoid high heels especially ladies because it’s all hills and try to wear sport shoes or sandals and do keep extra clothes incase they get wet in rain and very light winters clothing especially for night only.” The sky-kissing mountains, gorgeous valleys, rhododendron-strewn trails, patches of rice terraces and the graceful Buddhist monasteries make up most of Sikkim. An all girls tour would be ideal, which can actually boost the travelling fun of exploring something as wonderful as Sikkim!"

2. They Pack More Party Dresses Than Other Essentials

Well, this review says it all. Smart ones would listen to him. HolidayIQ Traveller Ajinkya Dhamnskar shares about Harishchandragad trek, “I did a night as well as a day trek and both the times the pleasure was outstanding. Must visit this place, things to be carried are Water, First aid box, dry eatables, extra pair of clothes and tissues or napkins.”

3. They Care About How They Look Than What They Look At

When you're at a gorgeous destination, people are going to look at the landscapes, not you. People don't come to look at you, you see. HolidayIQ Traveller Abhi Bavishi shares about Ponmudi, Kerala, “Ponmudi is, indeed, one of the most beautiful hill-stations in Kerala. I was taken aback by its scenic beauty and the serenity of the place. Unlike other hill-stations that are either over-crowded with people, Ponmudi is calm and peaceful. There are not many shops or hotels. If I had to put it in one line-- I would say Ponmudi is not a place for tourists; it's a place for travelers. If you happen to visit Ponmudi, make sure you go all the way up to the cliff, and take some time around to gaze the beautiful open farms. There are no points in this hill-stations; it's just the experience that's amazing. You could literally feel and watch the clouds floating besides you; the air is amazingly cool and if you happen to go around October- December, you can also feel the mild drizzle. Make sure you wear shoes with rubber-sole, or the ones that have solid grip. Also, if you're too tightly wound, take an umbrella. (I advise against it, though). Have enough water, since the uphill climb can get tiring. You can hire a cab or if you're in a group, you can take a local bus from Trivandrum Station. It takes around 2-2.5 hours to reach Ponmudi depending on the weather and the traffic.”

4. Glamour Doesn’t Involve Conducting Research About The Destination

Research, plan, book and carry on. Don't plan what you should be wearing on which day, try planning about which sighseeing places you should visit instead. HolidayIQ Traveller shares about a resort in Ratnagiri, "Research thoroughly before you visit here. I had been to Kohinoor Samudra many years back on a office picnic and was very impressed by its stunning views and excellent location. That was a short one night trip, so when we planned a trip to Ganpatipule with family, I decided to go back to Kohinoor Samudra for a extended 4 nights vacation. To my disappointment, its stunning views and location are the only reason to visit this place.. A good swimming pool and Jacuzzi is a face saver, external ambience is attractive...Very good walkways built through the resort..Rest all is a big disappointment."

Click pictures where necessary. How would glamorous selfies help capture your experience at a particular destination? “Carrying your camera is a must or you will miss a lot of moments,” shares HolidayIQ Traveller Dinesh Verma about Kashmir. HolidayIQ Traveller Tushar Janardan adds, “Kashmir is a picture perfect location! Reflection of lights from the shikara at sunset is the best thing to capture.”

Smart travellers will always find a way to crack cheap deals. The amount of money you spend doesn't define your status, it defines how smart you are.  HolidayIQ Traveller Haren Pandya shares about Candolim, Goa, "Very cheap shopping is done. I think the best part is the flea market which springs up during the weekend, the place is thronged by people from all parts of the globe. There is great music and great food all around, the air is nice to breathe with lots of cheap shopping for the women dwellers."

7. Glamourous Travellers Look Forward To Events, Not Occurrences

What's a trip that doesn't surprise you! Smart travellers don't overplan, they just visit places. HolidayIQ Traveller Debjit Adhikari shares, "Bomdila is a pleasant surprise in Arunachal Pradesh. The climate, the monastery are a treat for any tourist & so are the people. Booking your hotel well in advance is a must because accommodation is very tough to find."
