Start your journey at India's Siliguri in West Bengal. Your journey of 160 km brings you to the Bhutan border town of Phuentsholing where the "roads are well maintained and clean." says HolidayIQ traveller Basab. Visit the "crocodile park and Gumpha. A 5 hour 30 min, 190 km ride from Phuentsholing brings you to the highest motorable pass in Bhutan, the Chelela pass in the Paro Valley. The pass is about an hour away from the town of Paro and is surrounded by lush valleys, pine and rhododendron forest. The pass provides stunning views of the sacred mountain Jomolhari and Jichu Drake.

Taktsang monastery(Tiger’s lair) is perched on the side of a cliff roughly 900 m above the Paro valley.  The trek here is here is "for all age people. It's a 9 km range and takes a whole day to go and come back trekking," shares HolidayIQ reviewer Poulomi.

Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital city is 50 km away from Paro. It's home to the Bhutanese Royal Family. Visit the Tashichho Dzong, a Buddhist monastery and fortress on the northern edge of the city of Thimphu in Bhutan, on the western bank of the River Wang Chu.

25km away from Thimphu on the picturesque Himalayan road leading to Punakha, is The Dochula Pass where 108 memorial chortens or stupas known as "Druk Wangyal Chortens" are built. There is also a monastery called the Druk Wangyal Lhakhang. The place offers spectacular views of the region and has rich cultural significance. 

Day 5. Drive to Wangdue Phodrang

A pleasant drive of 100 km takes you to Wangdue Phodrang which is famous for its fine bamboo work and stone carving. On the way to Wangduephodrang, visit the Chemolhakang, monastery of a divine madman (Lama Drukpa Kuenley). The nature trails here are unique and a must do. 

Day 7. Leave from Thimphu
