Surat Thani, an alluring natural beauty with a glittering history of civilisation, was the seat of power of the Indonesian Srivijaya Empire in ancient times. It lies 651 km south of Bangkok. You can either take the train or drive down the Route 401. The local handicrafts village and the folklore museum are definitely worth a visit.

"Khao Lak" literally means "Lak mountain". It is a series of villages in the Takua Pa district and in the Thai Mueang district of Phang Nga Province. Popular for its serene ambience and as a departure point for liveaboard scuba diving trips to the Similan Islands, It is approximately 60 kilometres north of the Phuket island along Phetkasem Road.

Kanchanaburi's “Death Railway” of WW 2, as it is now remembered, was built at the cost of the lives of many prisoners of war. Today that serves as a memorial. The town is known for its national parks of dense jungle, waterfalls and limestone caves. Seven-tiered waterfalls at Srinakarin Dam National Park, while Erawan National Park has aqua-blue falls.

Ko Lanta is an island district in Krabi on Thailand’s Andaman coast. The coral-fringed beaches, limestone outcrops and rainforests, the Mu Ko Lanta National Park spans several islands, till the largest island Ko Lanta Yai, home to semi-nomadic sea-people, the Chao Leh. The park contains the Khao Mai Kaew cave network and Khlong Chak waterfall.

You can either fly to Ayutthaya or take the road and ferry trip. About 80 kms north of Bangkok, it was the capital of Siam kingdom and a prosperous international trading port until 1767. The ruins of the old city now form the Ayutthaya Historical Park, an archaeological site that contains palaces, Buddhist temples, monasteries and statues.
