Cochin is referred to as the Gateway to Kerala.  Things to do: Visit Fort Cochin, the Santa Cruz Basilica, Pardesi Synagogue, Mattancherry palace where there are preserved Hindu murals, St. Francis Church. The Jew’s street and the Chinese fishing nets at Fort Cochin beach are the must see.

Drive down for about four hours to Munnar, South India's largest tea-growing region, carpeted in emerald-green tea plantations. What a sight that is!  Things to do: On the way visit Pine Apple Garden, Rubber Plantations, Spice Plantations, Valara Falls, Cheeyappara Falls

The low mountain scenery at Munnar is breathtaking – you’re often up above the clouds watching down at cotton-like clouds clinging to the mountaintops. Things to do: Photo point, take a boat ride at the Mattupetty Dam, shout out at the  Echo point, Shooting point, get romantic by the Kundale Lake.

In the Periyar Forest of Thekkady is one of the finest wildlife reserves in India and spread across the entire district are picturesque plantations, hill towns that hold great opportunities for treks and mountain walks. Things to do: Venture into the Periyar Forest and you get to see elephants.

Day 7. Head back to Cochin
