The temple complex is located on the shores of Lake Bratan in the mountains near Bedugul. At high tide, the placid reflective surface of the water rises above the base around the temple creating the overall dramatic illusion of a floating temple. Occasional thick mists descend from the nearby hills, adding to the magical scene.

Munduk is remotely located, quite a distance to reach up in north Bali, but once you do reach up, the beautiful view of the ridge that runs down from the northern edge of the Bedugul highlands is a worthwhile prize. The ridge overlooks two valley sides covered with verdant rice paddies and plantations.
