This is How You Spend Your Weekend at the Top of UAE, Jebel Jais Mountains:

  1. United Arab Emirates

Day 1. 5 friends and a Nissan Pathfinder

Seemingly usual weekend, 5 friends and a Nissan Pathfinder, we had no reason to sit at home watching TV or going out for a movie. We decided not to waste this precious weekend and to explore some new places nearby. Our search narrowed on to Jebel Jais situated in Ras-Al-Khaimah, the tallest mountain in the United Arab Emirates at about 1,910 m. A place which is known for its spectacular driving road, quiet famous among bikers and car drivers.

Journey from Dubai is around 2 hours, so we decided to start early to make most of our day. Boys will be boys, the journey planned to start at 9 in the morning, actually started at 12.30 PM. With a delayed start we were a bit jittery. However, with the comfortable speed of 120-135 KMH (Observant for the speed indicators as UAE has very strict traffic rules.), we were into the lap of this beautiful mountain valley at around 2 PM, after reaching our destination we didn’t have much regret.

Along the way, there are handful viewing points and it’s worth pausing at these points. These points are pretty famous amongst photographers. Curvy roads, picturesque location, a delightful drive and pleasant weather, all these gave our plan a wonderful start. Many families were there for the weekend picnic and then we realised that this place is quite famous among locals for family outing also.

In next 20 minutes, we were on the highest point of this breathtaking valley and undoubtedly, we were getting more and more fascinated with this place.

After spending another half an hour, we decided to say goodbye to this beauty. It was almost 6 PM when we reached back to the main city and it was high time to have a sumptuous early dinner. A delightful day ended with a mouth-watering food. We headed back to Dubai with a comprehensive satisfaction of spending a quality day.
