8 days, 7 glacial lakes in various shades of blue, a trek through emerald grasslands sprinkled with vibrant wildflowers and spectacular views of the Himalayas. This trek requires tough preparation as participants cover 10 kilometers a day with varying levels of oxygen depletion. Not for the faint hearted but worth a try.

HolidayIQ reviewer Niraj Bora shares, “Went trekking from Sonmarg for a 5-day trek and  visualised a beauty that far exceeds any imagination. Even though the trek was exerting, the nature relieved us of all tiredness. The Kashmir Great Lakes trek is among the best treks. We crossed 7 lakes and some dense forests and after shivering cold and rain, we finally finished the trek. It was memorable.”

2. Spelunking in Meghalaya

Spelunking or caving is a great sport for adventurers who aren't afraid of narrow spaces, heights, darkness, and bugs. Exploring the caves involves free hand rock climbing, plenty of crawling, going through tight squeezes, walking and if you are lucky, swimming!

HolidayIQ reviewer Krishna Murthy says, “For outdoor enthusiast Meghalaya is the place; there are special tours for cave exploring.”

HolidayIQ reviewer Niwit Pauly says, “Mawsami cave is meant for travellers who are into adventure".

The caves of Meghalaya are ideal for spelunking and are every caver’s paradise. They are the deepest and longest caves in South Asia. The Mawsmai Caves are also popular among tourists and first time cavers. The Bat Caves, Krem Phyllut Cave and Krem Mawmluh are popular among spelunkers.

Jump off a high platform from a height of 50-120 meters secured by a harness and an elastic cord. “Bungee jumping, trekking and camping near Ganga are really amazing things to do in Rishikesh,” says HolidayIQ reviewer, Vijay.

Famous for river rafting, flying fox, swing jump, trekking and other adventure sports, Rishikesh is turning into India’s adventure capital.
