HolidayIQ reviewer Trevor shares the basic details, "Malshej Ghats is just about 140 km from Mumbai and is a great place to go to for a weekend break, particularly in the monsoons. It is high up in the mountains. The weather is cool as you are virtually in the middle of the clouds." Don't miss out the Pimpalgaon Joga Dam, Malshej Falls, Harishchandragad Fort and Ajoba Hill Fort.

HolidayIQ reviewer Vipul adds, "It looks superb, you can see many small and big waterfalls on the way. Few places you will see water falling on your vehicle from the mountain. There is a dam on the back side which is totally covered in fog during this season."

2. Tadoba: Spend the monsoons with a tiger!

Don't worry its very safe! We are just talking about the Tadoba National Park.

In the words of HolidayIQ reviewer Monica Rai, "Imagine endless dense forest teeming with millions of wild beasts, towering boulders sprawled with tawny tigers and cubs, and the earthy smell seized by the monsoon brimming in mist. Imagine a place completely unaware of civilisation where wildlife still reigns supreme. It is hard to believe a place like this still exists, but it does. It is called Tadoba. The first time I experienced this wilderness, it captured my soul. You will lose all track of time as the sun rises and sets over the Vidharbha breathtaking landscape."

3. Mahabaleshwar: A temple as a river source!

HolidayIQ reviewer Akshaya talks about the Krishnabai Temple at Mahabaleshwar. It is said to be the source of river Krishna, "The route was lined with lots of trees which make it look mystical. There was hardly anyone who knew about this temple, so there was no crowd. It is nicely located. There is a valley view in front which was completely filled with fog. The architecture is simple and attractive. I don't think it will cease to mesmerise you ever. I just loved the surrounding, probably rain made it more appealing."

4. Lavasa: A trek and a picnic

Lavasa is well sought after for the mountains and valleys that surround the region. There are a lot of opportunities for adventurous activities like mountain climbing, hiking and trekking.

HolidayIQ reviewer Abhishek shares his visit to the Varasgaon dam, "Visiting the dam during monsoon is an unforgettable experience. The lush green scenic beauty, cool crisp fresh air and lots of waterfalls are simply breathtaking. Being there you realise what Mother Nature has got to offer you. It's a 35-40 km drive to Lavasa City from here. I would suggest you carry your trekking boots and your camera."

HolidayIQ reviewer Sushant describes his experience at the Jog Falls, "What a place! And the time we visited with the regular monsoon season around in July, it really added to the experience. Heavy rains throughout the way and it intensified as we reached the falls, but you just forget everything around you once you see the milky white water falling from the top of a gorge down into the valley!"

HolidayIQ reviewer Muthu adds, "Get drenched in the rain with the powerful waterfall music! It feels like Pandora of Avatar movie. Cloud closes and opens and makes it even more beautiful!"
