"Good train for a night travel"Posted 9 Dec

We had booked the tickets for this particular train because I wanted to reach Matheran by 10 am the next day. No seats were available in third AC. So had to book sleeper class tickets. Its an average travel experience. The seats were comfortable for a night sleep. Too noisy but had no other options. I would suggest others to travel by third AC for this particular train.

Your car can travel up to only Matheran Checkpoint. Beyond that you have to travel on foot. No vehicle is allowed beyond that check point. It's around 2. 5 km trek which can be easily covered in 40 minutes. You have options like horse riding or pulled trolley rickshaw. So my advice is if you bring your own car then it's better you bring driver along with you or else hire a taxi and park your personal car at some Hotel in Neral. It's quite risky to park car at Matheran checkpoint because there's no one to take care of it and may possibly get robbed such as your music system. Or else you can even travel by mini train that reaches up to Matheran hill top.
