Coonoor the queen city of Ooty

Its a great place to find out all your inner nature peace and hangout with hills and valleys. Peace at its best and you shall enjoy your drive its the best part of your trip the hilly areas and terrain high altitude. Lastly I shall add that if you are tea or coffee lover then it's the best place to get the original one.

Good Quaint city Conoor

Nice quaint and clean city. Lovely climate and good scenery . Overall an awesome trip . Our stay was at a nice Home stay- Strathearn which is right next to Sim's Park on the main Conoor Kotagiri road It belongs to Ms. Linu Kurian who is a gracious hostess. The place is clean, comfortable and she is very attentive to her guests. A must visit place.

Coonoor

Coonoor is slowly emerging as one of the most preferred hill stations in Tamil Nadu. It is the second largest hill station in the Nilgiri Hills and is situated at an altitude of 1930 meters and just 19 km from Ooty. It boasts panoramic view of the Nilgiri Hills and the Catherine Falls. An ideal place for a romantic getaway in Tamil Nadu Coonoor is not less a dream come true for those with creative instincts.

Relaxing Ho

Coonoor is a cool and lovely place. Ideal for travelers looking for a relaxed atmosphere. There are some interesting places to see like Sims park, Dolphins Nose, etc which the taxi drivers will take you with ease. If you can go in the off season, then there won't the rush of summer time tourists. This is not a place for activity based holiday. Its meant for relaxation and that fact you must keep in mind. Travel is easy. Its accessible by road and rail. If you can get the tickets for the Mountain Railway, then its all more scenic as you can enjoy the nature at the calm leisurely pace of the train. There are so many waterfalls if its the rainy season. Nature can be enjoyed thoroughly by train. Taxis can be availed from Coimbatore or any close by place. You have the pleasure of stopping wherever you want if you go by private transport. State Transport buses are also available for the budget traveler.

The best place to relax

Coonoor is a magical place where you can have a relaxed break. Absolutely calm and quiet and undisturbed. You can stay here as long as you like. The main attraction is Sim's park which is a usual park just a smaller version of botanical or any other parks in Ooty. Then there is lambs rock which is place where you can walk along and have beautiful pics and amazing time and then there is the dolphins which is another view point and place to relax and you have some of the best places to have a tea break as there are small cafe which has amazing tea and snack along with great views ... And on the way you can see the ketti valley which is one of the biggest valleys in south india
Ooty is just 20 kms away from here

Nice place to visit

A beautiful place to visit. You can visit Dolphin Nose, Sim Park, Lamb's Rock, tea gardens & watch sleeping lady mountain. Enjoy south Indian food. You can visit these all by hiring a taxi or auto easily available everywhere. You can visit all these things in a single day...

Average place to visit

I read a lot on the Internet about how Ooty is a concrete jungle and how Coonoor is pristine and beautiful. I also read about how the climate of Coonoor is superior to that of Ooty.

Now here are my observations:-

1) Ooty for all its concrete development is superior to Coonoor in terms of breathtaking views.

2) The climate of Ooty is noticeably cooler to that of Coonoor. It is possible that Coonoor may be pleasant during Nov Dec and Jan when Ooty may be uncomfortably chilly. During all the remaining months, however, Ooty is much cooler than Coonoor. There is no comparison at all. Ooty's climate is superior and is the sort of climate which we plain-dwellers seek.

3) Ooty has got dozens and dozens of eating options and the variety is immense. In Coonoor, you only have a handful of restaurants and no great shakes at that.

Conclusion:- If you are living in the plains in sweltering heat and want a break by going to a hill station where you will get cold breezes, mist, fog and cool afternoons, Ooty is the best choice. Coonoor is a distant poor cousin.

Good place

Emerald green meets sapphire blue. Beautiful weather. Lovely roads, nice hot coffee. Very nice hotel Taj gateway. One should be back before 6 pm otherise fog can block your road. Nice place for two days much needed break with family and friends!
