The Land Amidst Two Water Bodies

Dhanushkodi is one of the most calmest and beautiful place in India. It has garnered a lot of interest due to the fabled Ram Setu and this is what attracts travellers here. There are a lot of dilapidated buildings here which were destroyed by the tsunami that had ravaged this region a few years back. They stand there as a memory to the fury that mother nature can unleash upon us.
Further down there is the Dhanushkodi Point where you can observe the confluence of two major water bodies namely, Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean, which is an absolute sight.
It draws a lot of tourists who come here in search of the lost route of Ram Setu and you can see these enthusiasts searching for hints of the bridge. For those who are not tickled by enthusiasm, they can simply sit back and watch the waves on either side or wade into the water for capturing some scenic shots.
Overall, it is one of those places that every traveler should visit once in their lifetime.

Dhanushkodi visit to see last point of india.

Dhanushkodi is situated near Rameshwaram Tamilnadu. Earlier it was not open to visit because of LTT movement. Now BRO made very good road so it is open to visit.
You can enjoy here as sea is all around here.
You can buy sea shells here in very good price. You can also find nice show piece here to decorate your home and office.

Hauntingly beautiful

Explorers, photographers and travelers must visit this hauntingly beautiful place called dhanushkodi.
This place will give you a surreal experience of being a part of a dramatic story. Best season will be to travel during the monsoons and winters.
There are couple of local temples and markets in rameswaram.
A good long walk lasting for almost 6 hours to reach the tip of peninsula even beyong dhanushkodi. You will find yourself witnessing the sea animals being washed away by the sea. The entire stretch of the road is bounded by indian ocean on one side and bay of Bengal on the other side.
Its a must do things for people who are willing to go all the way.
Local food is the best tamil style fich curry and rice served in the stalls by the sea.
Wear comfortable clothes, wind cheater will help you for the walk, even an umbrella. Carry water bottles and snacks.

Dhanushkodi beach is one of the beautiful place in rameswaram. It was a dream journey for me and the road to dhanushkodi from rameswaram and to the south east tip was amazing and you will see Indian ocean and Bay of Bengal on both sides and at last you will reach the meeting point. Its a must visit place for all who visit rameswaram.

What remains here is the ruins of the town and untouched beaches

Situated at the southeast tip of Pamban Island, 30 km from Sri Lanka, Dhanushkodi was destroyed in the 1964 cyclone. What we see today are Ruins of a town with church, railway station hospital, post office, etc. A large part of the town is still submerged in the sea. Bay of Bengal meets Indian Ocean here and as mentioned in Ramayana, Ram Setu was built here by Lord Ram. It's a must visit site, be it for religious beliefs, historical or to see the untouched beaches unlike anywhere in India.

Awesome beach, ruined cityscape, busy fishing community

For my bad, my camera battery went down soon I reach this place. May be because its a haunted place? It's around 20Kms -12INR bus ticket per person from Rameshwaram to Dhanushkodi bus stop. From bus stop, to reach the tip of Dhanushkodi, you need avail either of Tempo & Jeep service. The road to the tip is under construction. I had to take tempo service, up and down, (75. 00INR + 75. 00INR) which drove through the ocean to reach the tip of Dhanushkodi. You'll see ruined city scape, fishing community on their work, relatively calm Bay of Bengal ocean on left and furious Indian Ocean on the right. At times, I loved to see sand flew away by wind from left to right! It is not furious, but it flew over an inch or so. Sunset was beautiful. Returned by 1820Hrs bus. Do check last bus & auto service time, and try to get back sooner, as there are no other means of commuting facility after that.

  • Awesome beach, ruined cityscape, busy fishing community

To the corner of earth, Dhanushkodi

I'm proud of that day, after reading so many travelogues and blogs about Dhanushkodi and Ramasethu point finally I decided to explore the beautiful haunted city. Dhanushkodi is located at distance of around 25 km from Rameswaram, Tamilandu. This is the place where Bay of Bengal meets Indian ocean. Trip to Dhanushkodi will be a life time experience, the landscapes, off-road driving, beaches everything makes this place awesome. The victims of 1964 Tsunami, The Government Declared as the ghost city. Journey through Pamban bridge and Sand drive with Tempo vans will be breathtaking to all.

Ghost town-where the land you stay meets sea

Yes! When I write the caption, it is really meant!

Dhanushkodi, a place at the southern tip in state of Tamil Nadu is much closer to the neighbouring country-Srilanka than to some parts of the state. The place really adores everyone by its roads, old town remaining and many other things. Dhanushkodi beach is also a peaceful spot worth visiting. The best part is the travel to the tip of the ghost town which could be done only in 4x4 vehicles!

Dhanushkodi, awesome visit

How does it feel to be at the South Eastern Indian tip of Indian subcontinent?
This cannot be expressed in words, rather should be experienced . We went to Rameshwaram temple after getting blessings from almighty we proceeded further towards dhanushkodi which is approximately 20kms from Rameshwaram temple. Journey from Madurai till Dhanushkodi was awesome.
