Perfect for a relaxed holiday
McLeodganj is the place to go to as it is higher up in the mountains and a bit cooler. We stayed in Dharamshala, which is about 12 km down hill, as our time share was located there. However, taxis are easily available for the trip up Dharamshala is relatively easy to get to. We took a flight to Delhi and from there to Kangra airport, which is just about 30 minutes from our resort. As it is the headquarters of the Dalai Lama, you notice a rather Tibetan ambience. There are quite a lot of monks around and while Tibetan food is available everywhere, there are many restaurants serving Indian, Chinese and Continental food at very reasonable prices. The Norbulingka Institute is a 'must visit' in Dharamshala. The cricket ground is another place to see --- its far better than when you see it on TV. Up in McLeodganj there is the Tibetan museum, the Dalai Lama's residence and a monastery. You can spend some time wandering around the narrow streets of the market If its a relaxed holiday that you are looking for, this is a good place.

Wonderful experience with hotel pong view
Dharamshala is the place where travelers can relax and get peace of mind . . If you get the Valley view side so definitely you will enjoy your day and evening with your spouse or family . Everybody should visit once in their life. However the weather is quite hot in June month.

School of Humanity Dharma - Dharamshala
A hilly town of Himachal Pradesh which is famous for good weather, clean air and greenery. It's abode of HH Dalai Lama and his disciples. Dalai Lama temple is well managed, secured and peaceful place where Lama practice their rituals. Awesome food, Italian, Chinese, Tibetan, Indian, etc is available throughout the city. Very unpredictable weather surrounding Dhauladar Range is really enjoyable.

I have visited . Places like Nainital. Masoorie. So Dharamshala is same . Its not beautiful like kashmir . Or Manali . But its OK . Temp is cool. And you don't have lot of places to visit . But its fine . V stayed in udichi huts in naddi . And if you want peaceful environment . Then naddi is best place . Its far away from market. And restaurants . Its away from town. But views are superb . Dharamshala is 10 hours away from Delhi. By volvo

Full hot temperature, risky roads and wrong description of most of the hotels on all booking sights
Dharamshala is a very hot temperature spot . So don't expect to visit in May to face cold . It's a same like other cities of India . High temperature . Roads are very dangerous and horny, but thank God I got a good taxi driver of kangda . So I could return safely .

We visited new place which is normally not famous ie Himani Chamunda which is a track of about 11 kms. We did that only disabling us to visit rest except Stadium due to restricted time ( which was taken by this tracking ). This track was quite tough, but, doable once.

Good but not the BEST
Dharamshala was not as cold and neither as green as I expected it to be. Local people informed that not much snow had fallen this year (2018). According to my experience, early summer would be good season to visit Dharamshala We mostly focused on Natural beauty. Didn't see any snow in May(as expected), Bhagsu waterfall was very thin, Naddi view point was OK. Dal lake was good. If you are nature lover, I highly suggest that you trek Triund hills St. John church is really in the wilderness. You may face traffic in Mcleod gunj. Good market for Tibetian and Buddhist items. Dalai Lama temple was nice experience because of humble, friendly monks and devotees and unsettling for learning Tibet oppression by China HPCA stadium is one of the most beautiful cricket ground in world Overall, you need 2-4 days to fully explore Dharamshala, but you might be disappointed if you are a nature lover and visit late summer.
