Hotel Mandar Dharwad

Location good enough. But when booked for three adults they provided a double room with a bed on the floor. Room service very exorbitant and unsatisfactory. Very bad house keeping. They tried to pressurise us to check out before we had decided to do so. Please drop the facility from your list. Water logging in Bath room was a big problem we had to put up with.

Ruled by many dynasties

Dharwad is situated around 450 kilometers from the state capital, Bangalore and is known better as the cultural capital of Karnataka. In the ancient past, Dharwad has been ruled by a variety of dynasties such as badami chalukyas, Rashtrakutas, hoysalas, kadambas, moghuls and the vijayanagar empire, among others. The seat of education, Karnatak university is located in pavatenagar in Dharwad. This district was the birthplace of the 16th century poet, Kumarvyaasa. The beautiful Unkal tank is located in dharwad. Same is the case with University of Agricultural sciences, Bendre Bhawan and The mallikarjun mansur trust founded in the memory of the late hindustani classical musician Dr Mallikarjun Mansur. Gangubai hangal who was a hindustani classical musician also hails from the same district

A place with greenery all around

Coming from hectic cities like Mumbai & Bengaluru, this place seemed like ghost town. There was hardly any traffic on road, People could cross the roads at there leisure, With hardly any traffic, roads seemed wider than necessary! Even foot path seemed unnecessary. There was greenery all around and all single storied building painted in Terracota, gave the town a beautiful looked. The uneven terrain, ridges & valleys & unpolluted, cool breeze gave the place appearance of hill station, even the name Dharwar means a 'place for resting'. I wondered then why this place is not treated as a hill station?

A place best known for its blissful weather

One needs to visit Dharwad just once to be smitten by place. The very place, its people, their accent of Kannada, its rustic feel and the best of all- its weather is instantly captivating . It rains almost all year round here and it feels as though the entire place is situated right under a giant sprinkler system. The rains are neither too heavy nor sparse, but what it sure is- is it is incessant. A visit to this place is bound to make you fall in love with Dharwad and its culture which is influenced by Marathi culture to a large extent. The famous 'Bhakri' is something you should try out when here for it is lip smacking, not to mention the other traditional receipies like jolada rotti, ranjka, thokku, etc

Excellent

I had gone to Dharwad to attend a function cum holiday tour. I stayed in Indraprastha Residency Hotel. It is a well maintained Clean and fully air conditioned hotel at a reasonable price of Rs 1000/- per day with 24 hours check out timing. It has car parking facility with security. The rooms are spacious toilets are clean . The staff members are good with smiling face all the time. It is always preferable to book in advance. Some times you may get room directly in off season.
