Garhchiroli is also commonly known as Gadchiroli, which is a municipal council under Gadchiroli District of the state of Maharashtra. The district of Gadchiroli is huge in terms of area, which was formed by dividing Chandrapur District on 26th August, 1982.

Gadchiroli is located in the north-eastern part of Maharashtra, which is bordered by the states of Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
