Beautiful historical place and food is fabulous especially Ragi mudde.

Being a traveller and explorer, this place is must for you. Its better you avoid asking for places through google because actual beauty you will know when you see it and experience with your own eyes. There are many places to be visited in belur and halebid. Small suggestion for travellers is whenever you visit to halebid, there is an archaeological museum nearby you will have all the clear picture of nearby places in belur, halebid to be visited.

Gateway from tension

It was a trip to enjoy the country side as well as the UNESCO Heritahe site that has been widely talked about. I have seen many of this type of monuments and each of one them is unique in it's own way. The Hindu/Jain culture is very evident in every columns/pillars and that makes us feel proud of our heritage.

UNESCO world Heritage sites!

4 hrs from Bangalore close to Hassan, these 2 sites are 16 kms apart. With carvings from puranas and mythological characters from Ramayana and Mahabharata, you can spend hours looking into the pillars and walls of the temple, admiring the south Indian architecture on display. Guides are available in case you want to really get into the details. It's a weekend getaway from Bangalore or you can plan this trip on the way to Hill station chickmagalur. You can stay in Hassan or chickmagalur depending on your trip plan.

Beautiful architecture of Hoysala workmanship

Belur and Halebeedu are in Hassan district connected by good roads from Bangalore / Mysore. From Bangalore is about 200 odd km and most of it by NH 48 highway. On the way you could first take a detour and finish Shravanabelagola (Lord Gomateshwara) . . The temple is an excellent example of Hoysala architecture devoted to Lord Chennakeshava (Vishnu). Engage a guide if you can (they charge 250/-) but it is worth it as you would get to know the history and also explain the intricate carvings on each pillar and stones. Amazing we had such craftsman those days itself with no technology and just hands to chisel on stones. Wow! 16 Kms from there is Halebeedu (capital of Hoysalas). Here there are twin temples dedicated to Shiva and the carvings are even more intricate though in terms of maintenance, the structure looks bid jaded. Again you have guides whom you could engage to get to know the details. Weekends / holiday season, there is good crowd. Summer could be hot place especially if you have to walk bare foot. Conducts day packages to Belur, Halebeedu and Shravanabelagola which is good. If you have your own vehicle, go for it as roads are good mostly.

Sacred place built by Hoysalas centuries back

It is a sacred place buit by hoysalas centuries back. Lord Channa Keshava is worshipped here. One can easily identify hoysala architecture because the upper and base structures are built in similar manner. Just half kilometer from the belur bus stand.

A legacy from history - Truly Marvel

If you are a lover of art, it is a paradise for you and even if you are not an artistic kind, the carvings on the temple will leave you awestruck Each section of the temple has a story to tell in form of carvings. The sense of sculptures and their imagination will leave no doubt in your mind that the ancient India was as modern and open as it is today, maybe more It's a must watch at least once Belur is another attraction of similar kind after Halebid Temple I will recommend to go to Halebid first and then come to Belur, as I find it somewhat in sequel somehow. But both of these attractions are must visit You will be amazed by the imagination of sculptures and attention to details so much so that they have taken care of wrinkles in a bent neck or to show the expressions on the statues revealing the situation they are in It is truly an amazing place and I will love to visit it again.

Worth visiting

Beluru and halebid are very good in architecture. It is nice place to see who ever interested in visiting heritage properties. We liked the place very much. The place is well maintained. The local guides are informative and not expensive. It is better to stay in Hassan and take a cab. You can cover bothe places in about four hours time by spending about rs. 1500/-. You can also dodda gatta halli temple and balaji temple on the way . They are also worth seeing. There is nothing to see in Hassan except a ganesh temple and a park . You can proceed to dharmasthala from Hassan and from there to kukki subrahmanya and back to Bangalore. The the airavata bus we travelled was horrible. It needs to be replaced. The should run good buses for overnight services.
