Indore Weather in the central part of the country, Indore experiences a combination of tropical wet and dry climate, and sub-tropical climate. The weather in Indore is moderately extreme with hot summers and cold winters. The highest temperature recorded was 48° Celsius in 1994 which exemplified how hot it can get during the summers. Indore experiences the three distinct seasons of summer, monsoon and winter. Summer in Indore prevails between mid-March and June, and during this time the temperature of the city is quite high. The approximate summer temperature in Indore is between 35° Celsius and 40° Celsius, and humidity is quite low. The hottest month is usually May and the mercury rises as high as 45° Celsius during the peak summer days. During the evening and nights however, Indore enjoys a cool breeze and there is some respite from the blistering heat of the daytime. Due to its location on the southern edge of the Malwa Plateau, a cool pleasant breeze (referred to as Shab-e-Malwa) blows in the late evenings, which cools down the city to some extent. Monsoon arrives in Indore in the later part of June, and during this time the city experiences frequent, heavy showers. The temperature goes down substantially, averaging around 26° Celsius, and the weather becomes quite humid. The maximum rainfall takes place during July and September due to the South West monsoon, and Indore receives around 890 to 970 mm of rainfall. Indore experiences winter during the months of November to February. During this time weather is dry and pleasant, and the temperatures range between 4 –15° Celsius. It remains sunny and bright during the days but can get quite chilly during the nights. During the peak of winter, the temperature can dip as low as 2 to 3° Celsius. The best time to visit Indore is during the winter season when the weather remains pleasant and temperature comfortable for tourists to explore around the city.
