History of Jodhpur
Jodhpur in Rajasthan is one of the most popular tourist destinations because of its havelis, forts, rich heritage and because it was home to the Maharaja and his Royal family. It is also called the ‘Blue City’ because of the houses around Mehrangarh fort that are painted in blue.
Jodhpur was founded by Rao Jodha, the Chief of Rathore Clan in 1459. Thus the city is named after him. Much later, during the British Raj, Jodhpur flourished and became one of the largest cities in Rajasthan.
