Water sport beach

Good for water sports activities like jet ski, etc. Horse and camel rides for family are also available. Approximately 5 km from this beach is varsoli beach which is the biggest beach of Alibaug with very less crowd, good for sunbathing and also water sports.

A beautiful place

From Mumbai( Dadar), Kihim is just 120 Km away by road or just one and half hour journey from Gateway of India. Beach is just one km away from Alibaug - Mandwa main road. You can choose Guest house or Hotel near beach or near to the main road. Some of the guest houses offer a package deal for weekend which includes food and stay for Saturday and Sunday ( one and half day). Package deal ranges from 1500 to 4000 Rs as per the class and some hotels charge separately for stay and food. Preferably book your hotel online prior to the visit for good deals and if you know the locality you can hunt for a Guest house on arrival. If you love fish then you can BUY fresh fish from local market and ask your guest house chef to serve you.

You can find coconut stalls, light snacks like noodles, bread omelet, bhelpuri stalls here on the beach. Yes, there are changing rooms on the beach at nominal cost and to buy beach wear you will have to visit shops near main road. Home made food is one of the best options if you love Bhakari ( Roti made of Rice floor) and local fish catch like Pomphrets/ prawns. For non veg foodies fresh red meat is also popular here. Some part of Kihim beach is rocky so avoid it but beach is even and shall, hence quite safe for kids. Please check high and low tide timings if you wish to enjoy swimming.

Kihim Overview

Kihim is situated in the district of Raigad in the state of Maharashtra. This place is famous for Kihim Beach, which is located close to the city of Alibaug. The Kihim Beach is very clean, with scenic surroundings and coconut trees. Tourists coming to Kihim can enjoy tent holidays, which take care of tourists’ needs by offering requisite modern facilities.

Kihim Beach also features isles of Underi and Khanderi that are known for their sea ports. These sea ports are managed by the Mumbai Port Trust, which generally does not grant permission for visiting the isles. The Khanderi Fort was constructed in 1672 by Shivaji Maharaj, who was opposed by British so as to gain monopoly over Mumbai.

Later on in 1867, a lighthouse was constructed near this fort for guiding mariners during night. Kihim is surrounded by various small fishing villages and is a popular spot for watching several species of birds. The village of Kihim can be easily reached by taking ferries or boats from Mumbai and other neighbouring ports.

Flights till Mumbai International Airport are the most suitable option for travelling to Kihim, which is located at around 100 km from the village. Panvel Railway Station is the closest railway station from Kihim which is situated at a distance of 85 km from the village. State transport buses and taxis are regularly available from Mumbai, Alibaugh, Panvel and other nearby cities, for getting to the destination. The best time to travel to Kihim is between December and February when the weather is cool and pleasant.
