Must visit sight for a tranquil holiday amongst wilderness

A picture perfect destination nestled in the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas Manas National Park is an excellent gateway for families, couples and groups alike. As it is located in a comparatively remote corner of the North Eastern state of Assam it has the advantage of catering to more selective travelers and lacks the commercialism seen in other parks like the Kaziranga . We traveled to Manas in December 2013 and checked into the Bansbari Lodge located right at the doorstep of the gate of the sanctuary. Its not the high end kind of resort but very clean with an excellent kitchen. The staff is extremely polite and helpful and serves customer with a smiling face. The rooms are old but very spacious as well as clean. The best part was that it has got a lawn and in the evenings you can ask somebody from the staff to organize individual bonfire for a nominal fee. We had taken our mini barbecue set on which we roasted chicken & potatoes which we had requested the kitchen staff to keep marinated earlier in the day . The jeep safari is also entertaining and you have a better chance of sighting wild animals like elephants, wild boars, golden langur etc as the jungles of Manas is denser than Kaziranga and the traffic lesser. You have the choice of taking your own car for safari and in fact also cross over to Bhutan side for which you have to pay a nominal fee at the main gate. There are several watch towers inside the jungle and it is an excellent idea to stay put during the evenings there to observe herds of wild animals returning home . Another biggest attraction of Manas is crossing the jungles

A good experience

The jeep safari (4hrs) in Manas National Park is comparatively longer than any other sanctuaries elswhere in India. It is a good experience to observe bio-diversity of sub-Himalayan as well as tropical vegetation. It starts from Bansbari Central Range all the way up to Maithanguri at the border of Bhutan, from where one gets a beautiful view of Beki river and the mountains of Bhutan. Indian tourists can enter Bhutan up to Panbang village checkpoint.

You can see numerous birds right at the resort itself Food right from breakfast to dinner is really awesome. The members of the NGO take every care to make your stay memorable arranging everything including the rides. You can visit neighboring Bodo village to have a feel of the ethnic culture. They even sell local hand woven Bodo garments wonderful with ethnic motiff.

God place to enjoy the beauty of the nature

In one word: 'BEAUTY'. One of the most beautiful place I have ever seen in terms of natural beauty. The two rivers coming out from Bhutan makes it more wonderful. We also arranged a picnic there. The place was very comfortable for doing so. We enjoyed a lot the day.
