Nice spot for a day

Mirik is mainly noted for its special feature of changing weather during the course of a day. It is situated at about 60kms from Siliguri or 25kms from Darjeeling. You can reach mirik from either of the two ways. Hired and shared taxi services are available. The lake is beautiful with the fishes eagerly waiting for you to give them some food. There is also a park or sort of resting area round the lake. Good hotels are even available for night stay and delicious Chinese dishes are available on the spot. Boating facilities are available in the lake. Also there is a small market around the lake to attract travellers.

An awesome Mirik experience!

I travelled with my full family around of total 14 members including 4 children. It was nice time to travel this place during this puja vacation. The hotel was very good and is located in the heart of the city. After reaching Mirik, the evening time we just took snacks from the hotel and go to see the beautiful lake of Mirik, did boating with all of our children. They enjoyed a lot .

A small Hilly town just below Darjeeling.

From Siliguri it is 1. 25 km away. Its around 2. 30 hr long drive, with With beautiful scenery all around, covered with mountains, along with tea garden, river streams and awesome weather . . Situated at an altitude of 1768 m above the sea level, Deosi Dara offers picturesque views of the adjacent plains, peaks and hills and peaks located close to Mirik. It remains crowded with visitors round the year Mirik, long lake is fed by perennial streams. A floating fountain in the middle of the lake is a joy for ever and very often you may find the glory of Kanchenjungha reflected in the lake waters. A rich forest with thousands of trees clothe the slopes on the west. A 3. 5 km. Zig-zag footwalk takes you along the lake - a sleek foot bridge connects the garden on the east with the woods on the west. Alone or in company, you are sure to enjoy a boat-ride in the lake A very beautiful and scenic place, Rameetay Dara offers panoramic view of Himalayan Hills and plains. It is primarily popular for its sunrise and sunset view. The nearby attraction, Kawlay Dara View Point and the Bokar Ngedon Chokhor Ling Monastery allures a large number of tourists to visit Mirik.

Small town surrounded by hills

We visited Mirik enroute Siliguri from Darjeeling. Initially intended to stop for a quick lunch, we ended up sigh seeing The Mirik Lake, the main attraction of Mirik, though situated in a beautiful location, has become quite polluted. The lake is surrounded by lush tress and is a popular tourist spot. Many vendors sell hot Maggi, juices, momos and fresh fruits near the lake. There are some good restaurants too around the lake. Some other tourrist places there are the Debisthan temple, Monastary and Pashupati Nagar I would recommend Mirik only as a quick or half day stop over.

For a family trip - may be weekend or on the way to Darjeeling, nice place to stay at Mirik Rangbang Homestay it is a budget trip - pocket friendly. Mirik lake and Bokar Monastery are fevorite place to visit if someone wants . Short trekking to nearby Rangbang river and roaming around village road is excellent .

Best Hill Destination in Bengal

It is a small town surrounded by hill. You can spend a relaxed & lazy week end over here with one night stay. Generally travellers cover this place with one day trip from Darjeeling. But by this way one could not feel the tranquillity of the place The main attraction is around the Mirik lake (Sumendu Lake). You can enjoy the boating there and horse riding around the lake. A bridge is made across the lake. Other places are Devithan (just beside the lake), Bokar Ngedon Chokhor Ling Monastery, Swiss cottage, Helipad, Orange garden (during winter season), Tingling View Point, Thurbo Tea Gardens & factory, Pasupati Nagar market, Sunrise Point, Don Bosco Church, etc Lots of Hotels are available at Mirik, with different range. Restaurants are also available near the lake area. All the shops & restaurants are closed around 7 pm. So you have to make order for dinner within 6 pm. Some mid or low range restaurant are available nearby. E. G. Annapurna Hotel. Avoid Kolkata Hotel as it is rather expensive and lower food quality. Almost nothing to shop here During visit carry photo & address proof ID card in original (including photocopy). All Hotel ask for that if you stay. Also it require in Pashupati Market as it is in Nepal. Foreigners are not allowed here .
