Experience the loneliness of forest

I have visited Murti in North Bengal in the last week of November, 2015. It is a beautiful place on the bank of river Murti and within Gorumara range of Dooars forest. You can experience the lonliness of forest and hospitality of local villagers. In the resorts you will get foods of your choice it be Bengali or international crusine.

Its a beautiful region-Murti

Murti, Uttar Dhupjhora, Batabari, Jalpaiguri, West Bengal, India gets its name from the Murti river which runs through the area, and is the demarcation line between two of the most beautiful forests in the region, Gorumara National Parkin the south west, and Chapramari Forest towards the north east. Accommodation includes the very beautiful Murti Tourist Resort run by the West Bengal Tourism Development Corporation, right next to the Murti river. One of the most beautiful locales in the whole world, the drive through Sevoke, Teesta, Mal and Chalsa, into the land of hills, tea gardens, forests, and the unmatchable flora and fauna. A must treat for all nature lovers . .

A moonlit night at Murti will take your breath away

One of the major attraction of the dooars is the Murti river-front. The place is worth giving a visit . Its absolutely scenic beauty and the murti river on a moonlit night will take your breath away . The local people are kind and jovial who can even give ou an elephant ride for free. Just sitting on the bank of the river and watching the wild animals will make your stay memorable . The cottage is just on the bank of the Murti river and is the best place to stay for a night or two. Its an excellent place with some very good Bengali cuisines . Local shops are there, though very less in nmber. The quality iisnt anything to boast of, but the prices are high . An umbrella is a must if you are travelling during the rainy season.

Perfect for nature lovers & a leisure vacation

Murti is nature and nature all around. You can walk in all directions, bathe in the river, enjoy jeep safaris and homely food. The people are friendly and warm. Lots of oxygen in the air. The water is so good that you will feel hungry very frequently. So carry lots of dry food with you during sightseeing trips as shops are rare. You can go from NJP - its 1. 5 hours drive. If you can take some train which stops at Mal junction you reach faster, in just 25 minutes. Hotels arrange for pickup/drop at reasonable rates.

Amazing view of the peacock

Superb experience. Never to miss in anyone's life. Staying was comfortable. One can walk on the river bed in not so deep water. If you cross the river, you can see good number of Peacock dancing here & there. You can cross the bridge also to enjoy the beauty of forests too.

Nice Place

We spent 2 days there at the West Bengal Forest Development Resort. It is beside the Murti river. The view from the resort is beautiful. The day we reached there was a heavy rainfall in the evening and the lightning made the river look even more beautiful. Activities & things to do: There is nothing to do in the evenings but the flow of the river and its noise it makes it enjoyable. The nature around is worth the visit. Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Best time to visit is after the rainy season around October to January. The rivers are full.

Murti - A place with no noise

Murti is located at Dooars region of north Bengal. The nearest railway station is Mal Junction. The place is also well connected with Siliguri and NJP by road. The landscape is amazing with greenery all around and the river Murti adds more value to the scenic beauty of the place . . If someone is looking forward to spend some days in serenity of woods, Murti is the place to visit. Lataguri being the gateway to the famous Gorumara National Park is only a few kilometers drive from Murti. One can also visit Gorumara forest directly from Murti. The places of attractions near Murti are Bindu, Jhallong, Samsing, Suntalekhola and Rocky Island. One can also visit other parts of Dooars from Murti. Lataguri is said above is only a few kilometers drive. When you are in Murti, you must have a deep in to the crystal clear water of Murti river. In winter the water is freezing and it is a great experience to be in to the knee level water of the river. The water current is high but it enjoyable. If you are lucky, you can also have a sight of the wild animals on the bank of the river. A herd of elephants, bison etc. Can be seen. If the driver of your vehicle is a local guy, just ask him to take you out at night and drive you through the woods along the highway. If you want to experience the beauty of the jungle at night, ask him to stop and switch off all the lights of the vehicle. There would be nothing around you except the pitch darkness of the jungle and the glowing stars above your head. If you are lucky again, you can see a herd of elephants crossing the highway through their corridors at night. Ask your driver to spot on them and the experience will surely last through your life. There is nothing special to buy or eat in Murti. The place is for them who are addicted to nature's creations.
