History of Nainital
Located in the Kumaon foothills, Nainital is a beautiful hill station in the state of Uttarakhand. It is nestled amidst the mountains, few of the eminent ones being Mount Deopatha, Mount Naina and Mount Ayarpatha. The name ‘Nainital’ means ‘lake of the eye’. Nainital holds religious significance and is a part of many mythological stories. It is believed that once when three sages visited the place, they found that there was no water. They dug a hole and filled it with water from Mansarovar Lake.
