New Delhi, the national capital of India, is one of the nine districts of the National Capital Territory of Delhi. It is the seat of the Government of India. With an area of 47.2 sq km, it is one of the fastest growing cities in the world and was recently rated as a Beta World City. It is bound by the states of Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. Being under the rule of several rulers and dynasties, the city has a rich historical and cultural background.
