The Bundel Capital

Orchha is small historical town used to be the Capital of Bundelkhand. The time has left numerous stories and histories behind. The beautiful Jahangir Mahal, Laxmi Temple and Orchha Fort will let you travel through the Bundela Kingdom. The magnificent architecture and the simplicity of town will add up more charm to your travel. The evening aarti in Rajaram Mandir, Light and Sound show inside the fort complex and Riverside walk, there is a lot to explore in Orchha. The story of Orchha will remind you the land of bravery and some very known kings like Chartres. This can be managed in a weekend trip if you live Delhi, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Bhopal or Mumbai. I am **** sure, you will fall in love with the history of Bundelkhand. Must visit, I promise you will not be disappointed anymore.

The Mesmerizing Rajput architecture at Orchha and the majestic Maugham creations at Agra

The beautiful palaces, forts, temples and memorials or 'Chattris' built by the Bundelkhand dynasty kings were incredible. They included the Orchha Fort, Jehangir Mahal, the Sesh Mahal(now converted into a hotel), Ram Raja Temple, Lakshmi Temple in the shape of the owl and the spectacular chhatris or memorials built by the princes or queens in memory of their beloved kings. This place is unexplored;people hardly knows about it. The majestic buildings and the interesting history behind them is going to linger in my mind for a very long time.
Also not to forget the grand summer palace built by Veer Singh Deo(of Bundelkand clan) in the ancient town of Datia, called the Purana Mahala or Datia Mahala.
The Maugham architecture at Agra does not need any special mention. The monumental Taj Mahala ;the marvellous Fatehpur Sikri ;the magnificent Agra fort was hypnotizing. The lesser known It-matud-dullah or the Chota Taj Mahala was fascinating.

Orchha the Unknown Heritage

It's a Heritage splendor of Madhya Pradesh. We got chance to enter at the evening and MP tourism has arranged a Light & sound show in Orcha Palace. The show was awesome, we got to know about the unknown history and felt that time has stopped here at Middle age. It was a time travel. We have stayed at MP Tourism property on the Bank of Betwa River. The place also a Heritage property. We got a chance for Rafting in Betwa River in the morning, views excellent sunrise on Betwa, Got a few clicks around Betwa with the famous 'Chhatris'. It was a pleasure photographing from the river. After that we went to Chaturbhuja Temple, Ram Mandir. But we were stunt, when we entered the famous Jehangir Mahal, History still living there. We have visited, Sish mahal, Raja Mahal, Rani Mahala and the famous Chhatris. It was not enough time to visit Orcha this time, I will definitely visit here some more time and it's worth visiting Orcha.

Now a part of Madhya Pradesh, Orchha, the then capital of Bundelkand, 18 km from Jhansi, a small town stretched over the bank of river Betwa with a rich legacy of the mighty Bundela kingdom, who ruled during 15th to 17th centuries. A part of this palace is concerted into heritage hotel run by M. P. Tourism, where one can stay as a king or queen or can have mouth watering lunch or dinner in a beautifully decorated restaurant . Chhatries ( Memorials of many total family members are worth seeing, are well maintained by A. S. I . Not to miss huge Chaturbhuj temple and adjescent Raja Ram temple, the only temple in India, where Govt Police officers salute lord Ram as the king, every morning and evening, after Aarti . Last but not least, every visitor to Orchha must witness the unique sound and light show in the evening, one hour each in English and Hindi, arranged by M. Tourism Deptt in the open ground S of palace campus, which takes you back to insight of stories and architecture and culture if the then Bundela kingdom . All around spectacular view of natural beauty is seen . There are many hotels, budget to luxuary with variety of food within and around the town. All monuments are just on walking distance . Best place to visit with family

I went with my family at evening. One must also visit Datia temple. People are good and helpful. The temple is scenic. And the night show in the fort is awww type. The food was so. But the most amazing thing is the story behind making of the temple. I would only say that one should visit there with there family.

Orchha, a historically enticing city, surrounded by lush greenary and pictureseque hills, the capital of the mighty Bundela Rajput kings. A city that has witnessed Indian history etch itself, is one of the most sought for locations for the lovers of both, history and nature . . This city served as a home to a legacy of rulers and thus, is rich in heritage. Every monument built, has its own story and the laser show in the evening at the Orchha fort is an invitation to all the curiosity-driven people who wish to take a plunge into the history of this enchanting town . There are in all about 7 locations that should not be missed while in Orchha. 1. The Orchha fort- Located on the banks of river Betwa, this fort is a home to three different palaces I. E. The Rai Praveen quarter, the Raj quarter and the Jahangir Mahal- each having its own story and relevance . 2. The Chaturbhuj Temple- A fine work of architecture that has served as an inspiration to many other Indian monuments over the period of time . 3. Chhatris- Comprises of the tombs of every ruler that has ruled Orchha . 4. Jhansi fort- A home to Rani Laxmibai, the fort has witnessed tough times . 5. Orchha Wildlife Sanctuary- Stretched over 46 km, this sanctuary has been a home to various wild, exotic species . 6. Dinaman Hardaul's Palace- A fine example of bravado and loyalty, Hardaul's story is inspiring and heartbreaking at the same time. Built by some of the best artisans in the country, it serves as a mark of honour . 7. Laxminarayan Temple- Built in the honour of Goddess Laxmi, this temple has its own aura. The location is as beautiful as the temple itself Orchha, indeed is an insight into the history of the land of Madhya Pradesh. It is well developed and has a variety of hotels to pick from, Orchha Resort being the most luxurious one.
