Reasons to go to Palolem

1Expect to find bamboo terrace shacks for a great view
Expect to find bamboo terrace shacks for a great view

HolidayIQ Reviewer Madhuri Agrawal adds, “We spent most of the days at sea enjoying the waves, though Palolem is a relatively quiet beach. Typical of favorite Goa beaches, it is lined with shacks and diners and sunbeds. A feature which a few shacks have added is a bamboo terrace, which can be climbed up to enjoy the view. We spent most of our evenings on this terrace – a nice place to sleep/read/eat in peace while still enjoying the sea.”

HolidayIQ Reviewer Kunal Savla says, “Agonda Beach is one of the very less crowded and clean well-known of Goa. It is located only 6kms from Palolem Beach. The sea is perfect for swimming and surfing. The water is blue and turquoise. The beach is very scenic with colourful beach shacks making this place more scenic.”

Relax With A Drink At Palolem Beach

HolidayIQ Traveller Salma S shares, “Palolem is a laid back calm and serene beach in southern Goa, which is very different from the other beaches with calm waves away from the hustle bustle of the city. Also no interference from any kind of commercial water sports like motor boats, jet ski etc. People are really hospitable and night life is decent enough to enjoy. Most of the crowd is foreigner's and the beach is very clean. I would say your journey to Goa is not complete without visiting Palolem beach. “

Goa's best Bikini destination

. Simply a safe place to be in a bikini and beachwear without praying eyes (personal experience). Palolem is located in south Goa in the sleepy town of cancona undoubtedly one of Goa's most postcard-perfect beaches, with a long stretch of sandy beach and a cool background of tall coconut groves where the sea has calm waves ideal for a long swim. We were a couple travelling to Goa last year in Dec and were disappointed with the Indian holiday crowd in all the other beaches of Goa hence were looking for a quite spot to relax with fewer beach activates someone suggested us to visit Palolem for a peaceful time and same day we packed our luggage from north Goa and took a ride to Palolem. To our surprise this was the perfect spot we were looking for and we spent rest of our vacation (4 days) here without thinking about rest of the Goa. Getting here : Palolem beach is well connected with rest of the Goa via cabs and public transport. Nearest Airport is Dabolim Airport(GOI) at Vasco da Gama 70 kms approx . . Nearest railways station is Margao 45Kms approx. Backpackers may also take a State Transport bus from Margao Bus Stand to Canacona or Palolem. The journey by bus usually takes around 90 minutes and the route is very scenic one. Accommodation : wide verity of Accommodations are available to suite every budget I guess. There are beach huts facing sea starting from 2000 Rs to 6000 Rs and few resorts with in 1 to 2 Kms of beach in same range. We stayed in club Palolem for a day which was within 1 Km of the beach. Charges : 5500 Rs with free breakfast and wi-fi. Then we shifted to Neptune point beach huts which is a sea facing shack with amazing food and drinks. Charges : 3500 Rs for a Sea View Premium Cottage. Activities : Palolem is a small beach town but do take long walks (carry a torch/flashlight if walking along the beach at night! ). If you happen to be there on a full moon night, its quite an experience strolling on the beach on a full moon night with the islands clearly visible in the moon light, you will find people partying late into the night up to 2 - 03:00 in the morning. Palolem is a quite beach where you wont find any Jet Skis - no rip-offs or touts water sports as found on Baga or calingute beaches a stroll to Colombo beach is a good pastime too, one can take a boat ride to honeymoon or butterfly beach which is an awesome activity. Scuba diving and self-paddle sea kayak boats are also available and also trekking to monkey island is one heck of an activity our favourite activity among all was to swim and sunbath enjoying chilled beer grazing at the endless Arabian sea wondering what lies at the other end. Silent Noise-Party, Neptune's Point The alternative to the legendary but almost extinct goa-parties. Big crowds of party goers gather every saturday for serious partying and dancing to awesome tunes underneath the starry sky. You'll be handed wireless headphones with different channels to chose from . Shopping : shopping is another all-time favourite activity in my kind (women) but Cancona or Palolem are not that great shopping spots other than few craft and hippy type of stuff. There are few wonderful little music shops, spice shops and garment shops On the beach front and inland be aware of shops selling beachwear and bikinis at 10 times the market price one such shop is at the entrance of the beach owned by a westerner avoid it by all means carry your own bikinis. Food : there is a wide verity of food available for all kind of taste buds Palolem has both Indian western and Thai food following below are few which we tried. Fernandes. - Just past the church on the right hand side of the beach, great indian food and tandori plus fairly cheap and fresh fish, a favourite for old regulars. Cool Breeze. - A jazz cafe that is quite popular with the locals, great food. The people are very friendly and you can get a real good deal in sea food item. A real value for item and will strongly recommend their wood fire cooked fish dishes . Sameer Restaurant. - Good breakfasts and their fish sizzlers are to die for. It's right on the beach, so fantastic views of the ocean . Drupadi, near centre light (near the main entrance to the beach) Probably the best and most popular restaurant in Palolem. Serves a good variety of food and the service here is great with friendly waiter who are willing to go the extra mile to serve you. Tandoori fish specialty. Magic Italy, Palolem Beach Road, on the left as you approach the beach (Walk down short road towards the beach. It's on the left. The best pizza in Palolem, possibly India. Try their Four Cheese or Spinach pizzas. Cosy, with a selection of tables or cushions on the floor. There is a takeaway version of this next to the coffee house on the beach road, Yum Tom Yum, Great Thai food cooked by a Thai woman. It is authentic and delicious. They have rooms available as well, but the food is the thing here. Friendly German-Goan guy and his Thai girlfriend run this place. Simple wooden tables It's difficult for me to agree with the assessment of the owner of this place as 'friendly' as he was busy viciously beating someone else's dog while we were eating dinner a few yards away. He was also loudly berating backpackers and English tourists to the Russian couple he was talking to. I'll always go back here because the food is spectacular. Rosemary Bar and Restaurant Rosemary Bar and Restaurant is based on the beach front in Ourem Palolem. Garden area and a wood fire oven pizzeria. Excellent menu, from pizzas to pastas, rosemary roast chicken and beef, veg/non-veg, continental dishes, indian curries, and the most wonderful desserts, and a full bar menu

Pololem beach

A stretch of beautifying white sand, Palolem Beach, located in the South Goa is one of the most fabulous beaches the Union has to offer. Goa indeed is a home to beaches giving out the coolest vibes, but this beach is renowned for maintaining its serene atmosphere. Mostly unspoiled, the beach is often flocked with foreign tourists. The Palolem Beach has been featured in the film The Bourne Supremacy (2004) as the Goan residence of Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) also highlighting its natural beauty. Visiting the beach gives you a chance to spend time among the bamboo beach huts and palm trees laid over a sandy stretch of 1. 5 km. Moreover, a refreshing dip into the shades of sapphire is something you call an unimaginable and unforgettable experience.
