Nature's Delight

Rajmachi is located near khandala & one can go to it through lonavla and khandala. I would suggest people take the route through Lonavala via tungarli dam. This route gives you an off roading experience. This route should be taken in monsoon which makes it more enjoyable & dangerous also, but it is worth an experience. Rajmachi is a fort with a lake at its base. Best enjoyable during monsoons.

Excellent for first time trekkers!

Trek is simple but beginners may find it difficult. It is best for photography enthusiast. Lot to click. In Monsoon you can get to witness lot of waterfalls adding cherry on the cake. To keep yourself hydrated take sufficient water and food, sneakers etc and sun screen if not going in monsoon.

One of the best destination near Pune

The place is at distance 15km from Lonaval. You can enjoy the Rajmachi trek by.

1. Enjoy night camping at Tungarli dam at evening and start trekking early in the morning for Rajmachi fort will take approx 4-5 hours and fresh environment. Tungarli's back water is good and safe place for camping. Not recommended in heavy rainfall. You can enjoy the stay here in winter also (In winter you have have star gazing option also). On the way to Rajmachi you will enjoy small/ big waterfalls in rainy season and in winter you will enjoy the fog around you. When you will reach at the top actually you will in the 9th cloud in both season so do visit.

2. Start trekking by 4-5 PM from lonavala reach to Rajmachi's starting point approx. 9-10PM (you can stay at old temple) and start trekking in morning toward main fort. (not more than 1 hour distance). You can enjoy this stay in temple in rainy season as well as in winter season. The beauty of the nature is totally diff in both the season so please visit in both the seasons. In rainy season the beauty of waterfall & scenic view make you joy.

Trekking for 1 day & return.

Worth the experience, best place to be visited

Should be tried at least once. A delight for people who love trekking. Beautiful mountains, off road tracks, camping sites, villages and much more to do and see. There is a fort on the top but the vehicles can go only till the village. There are rooms available in the village to stay, food also provided ( thali system mostly).

Awesome trekking options

After reaching to lonavala 15 mjn to starting point of trekking for rajmachi auto rickshaw will let you know the point.

Advice : please carry ample of food and water so that you can survive till 5 o'clock in the evening if you start around 9 or 10 in the morning also the village where we rent was nice, full village feel no TV no telephone connection sometime mobile network works.

After reaching Rajmachi there are two fort for evening trekking, you can enjoy the sunset. Total distance we traveled from starting point to Rajmachi was around 20km

Fort Rajmachi

Fort Rajmachi is a unique historical fort at a distance of about 15 km. from Lonavala. Though it is a Trekkers' destination, one can reach Fort Rajmachi, from Lonavla, in a strong SUV like Tata Sumo, Mahidra Scorpio, etc. The jeepable track in dry season only (in rainy season from June to October it is very slushy) is very rough.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Homely food is available on the Camping Site of Rajmachi Rural Aid and Development Programme.

Activities & things to do: Trekking. Visit Manoranjan and Shrivardhan forts.

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Book accommodation in advance.

Rajmachi-Ultimate Offroading destination

Rajmachi consists of two beautiful peaks namely 'Shrivardhan' and 'Manaranjan'. Rajmachi is very famous fort near twin hill stations in Maharashtra - Lonavala and Khanadala. Rajmachi fort is nearby 18/20 Kms from Lonavala but a nice way to reach the fort is from Tungarli Lake. This trek is very good for the beginners.

This is a real beautiful location if you are planning for Trekking. If you want take your vehicle then dont go in rainy season. We had been to Rajmachi in Rains last year with my bike, Honda Unicorn. Its really very difficult.

You can check out my trip log at Rajmachi Ultimate Offroading - TourerByTheLake

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: There are no Hotels around but the villagers will provide you good home made food at a very very reasonable cost. The food is really very Yummy.

Activities & things to do: Please visit the fort.

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: In rainy season don't take your vehicle, its fun but very risky.
