Place/village that divides the Kaveri river into 2 twin waterfalls

The place offers almost everything needed for a traveller. You can select Bangalore as a base city and on the way to Mysore Mandya is the place where Shivasamudram is situated. You can hire a car or take a bike ride to the place. If you plan to visit the place around the lunch time, I would advice you either have your food or carry some snacks. That is if you are too selective of your food. Avoid the duration of dussehra to visit the place as there will be huge traffic due to people travelling between Bangalore or around Mysore for dasara festival.

Awesome falls during monsoons

At a distance of about 150kms from Bengaluru you find a majestic water falls called the Gaganachukki and Barachukki falls.
Gaganachukki the water descends from higher elevation and you find majestic view points here. You can witness the grandeur and ferociousness of Cauvery in Gaganchukki.
There is only 1 hotel Lakshadeep Gaganchukki here. You can eat Bhel, fruits, sip coconut water from vendors nearby.
Barachukki is 14 kms away from here.

Unspoilt beauty of Nature

Splendid falls Gaganachukki and Barachukki. The place is very beautiful surrounded by lush green vegetation and lovely hills on the backdrop. The falls make the area a quite scenic place.
Been there in July last week, nice cool weather and lots of gushing waters from the falls. Really a splendid view to sit and relax.
The road from Bangalore is quite good and is a good 3hr drive.
It's advised to carry food items with you as there are very limited options. A small govt. Run hotel, Hotel Mayura is present infront of Gaganachukki falls which is the only place to eat and stay if required. But the food options are quite limited.

A good Waterfall

It takes around 3hrs, from Bangalore, in bike to reach this place. The road condition is bad. To reach the destination you can use Google map or may take help from local people. The gate opens at 8:30 am. Very large parking facility is available.

As compared to Hygienically fall you can really enjoy this fall in whatever manner.

To reach to this fall after parking, you need to move down around 100 stairs.

There are some stalls available for food. You can also find some dhabas on the way.

Overall, you will definitely enjoy this place.

Avoid visiting during summer days.

Pride of Karnataka

Just a 135 km drive from Bangalore. If you are planning for a one day trip then it is a very beautiful place to choose. There are two falls which it is divided into GAGANACHUKKI and BHARACHUKKI. To reach bharachukki falls there are around 350 steps and there you can have a lot of fun. There is a boat ride also which I suggest not to miss.

Lacks in amenities

Shivasamudram is a waterfalls located about 110 kms from Bangalore the road to this place is very good. The place is not clean and maintenance is very poor as the visitors have thrown all the waste everywhere. Both Gaganachukki and Barachukki lacks in amenities for tourists.

One day trip from Bangalore!

Good to visit during monsoon season so you have a excellent view. I visited in January however water was less still good enough to play. Be careful with stones and you have to climb back 240 steps if you are getting down to see the falls. No medical facility near by.

Good place but less accommodation!

If you are a nature lover with enthusiast with water then this the place you must go. There is no entry fee or Committee to handle the site. Out of two waterfalls there is only one where you can go inside and the falls are really amazing, but the changing rooms are under construction at tge time when we went there hopefully the problem has been resolved now. Near to this place a typical Karnataka traditional some sort of boats are there to pass a river which you can feel vertigo. Unfortunately there are no good hotels or restaurant near by so plan accordingly. And one pressing matter for people that you have to climb around 400 steps to get the foot of the waterfall so maintain good health and have some drinking water and foods.

  • Good place but less accommodation!

Had a great view from Shivanasamundra

We visited this place in January. Water was less but you can see the beauty, greenery all around. By seeing the vastness I could understand how beautiful it would be in Monsoon. Mention clearly in Google maps Bhara Chukki and Gagan Chukki falls or else you may get a wrong route. Will revisit in Monsoon.

Break from busy work life

Weekend getaway, there are two falls, one you can see from distance and other one you can enter into water. There are life guards so it's safe there, only problem is no changing room. It's clean and well maintained, go in a group you will definitely have fun.
