Epic it is

Shivagange hill is around 65kms from Bangalore. Make sure you start early in morning to avoid traffic. There are no nice restaurants on the way. So it's better you carry food . You can also trek with your shoes. Though there are small temples on the way to top, you can remove your shoes there . It took us around 2hrs to climb and 1 hr to get down. There are many small shops where they sell water, tea, sugar cane juice etc. Also there are small wooden benches where you can rest . The last stretch was very scary to climb as the steps were very small. But there are iron railings all the way. So just hold the railings and watch your steps. The best part is, there were many small kids who were climbing with much ease :). There are lots and lots of monkeys around. So be careful not to carry anything in hand. For sure they will nab it from you. We saw many people carrying pooja things(coconut etc)in plastic bags, and group of monkeys are trying to grab that from their hand. Some were having a stick in their hand to safeguard themselves . It was a breathtaking view from the top. Carry a very nice camera to capture. Surely a very great getaway

An ultimate climb to test both your spirituality and skill

This is the longest and toughest hill climb that I have ever accomplished. Many people visit here for the awesome view at the top and also many temples along the way. There is good connected roads and eateries along the way. This is 40km from Bangalore with good bus facility. There are steps to climb this hill and it would easily take 3hrs to climb to the top . Sunset is a must watch. Constant serving of curd juice is provided along the top(I would recommend not to drink it though). I would advice you to carry lots of water bottles and avoid contacts with monkeys by providing them food(They are aggressive). Would recommend car but there are very good bus facilities too. The temples are not so spectacular than the view from the top. And lastly visit during cooler winter seasons.
