Convenient Base to Explore

It is closer than Shimla from Delhi and less crowded. If one is to come to hills in summer then this is a fine option. Toy train experience is definitely there. You do not get much view but it can be distressing just to be here and do nothing. Heritage park built by Mohan meakin is an interesting option. Plan to be there around 5:30 pm as you can see it in day light when it is not that hot also in evening when it is lit.

Solan

Solan is also known as the mushroom city of India. The place is in midway between Chandigarh and Shimla. The place is really beautiful and greenery all around. Once you reach there you can visit the Barog Railway Station, Shoolni Mata Temple, Solan Brewery and the Buddhist Dolanji Bon Monastery

Beautiful Solan

Solan is not less beautiful than Shimla. It has the same climate and picturesque scenes of green mountains all around it. Hotels are comparatively cheaper. Also not crowded like Shimla or any other city. Cheaper local transportation but not available sometimes.

Mohan shakti heritage park,

It is awesome place between a scenic view of hills. Best attraction of this temple is there is goddess sherawali and others goddess are in standing position. I had never seen this posture of sherawali before. Someone want to feel relax with divinity just come there.

Solan-the twin sister of Shimla

In the scorching summer heat of the plains, with 2 months of vacations to ****, hills obviously are the most sought after holiday destination. The queen of hills-Shimla a relief is perhaps the first on the list of hill stations. However, over the recent years, due to the excessive amount of tourists, Shimla is suffocating with people, garbage and vehicles. But an undiscovered city 40kms before Shimla is just as beautiful bit more tranquil. On way to Shimla, people come across a little city called Solan. It is at a lesser altitude, so is less steep but as cool as Shimla. It is a comfortable easy 2 hour journey from Chandigarh. Solan is best known for it's, lush green mountains, the buzzing Mall road, Shoolini temple and it's peace. A walk through the Mall road will give one a perfect gist of the place-the culture the living and the society. One can and must try the delectable Tibetan food. Soups Noodles Choupsey Momos and there is a special thick, noodle soup called Thupka. The place's fashion sense is equally amusing as the food. There are open bazaars for garments with a few showrooms. If you wish to add a little variety to your wardrobe, the little market complexes will succeed to impress you with their varied collection of Himachali caps, shawls, sweaters and even natty summerwear.
Visiting the place in winters has it's own awesome perks. The snow clad mountains (even snowfall in December will give you a heavenly feel.
Overall the place is an amazing shot for a cool and pleasant holiday.
I have lived there for 4 years and hence would recommend all the readers to explore this beauty.

Solan the fun place!

Solan, the mushroom city has heritage, is spiritual, has parks, market and something for everyone. Heritage park by Mohans was my favourite and a must visit. Sadhupul is a must visit too. We stayed at army can't area and it added all the more fun. You can sit in the little train and visit the alcohol factory too along with the mushroom factory. Truly a weekend to remember !!

Nice place to visit

Its a nice hill station . But very less places to cover . One can go to Chail room here that is a better place for travellers. Solan jas jatoli temple . Market here is good and worth buying handmade crafts. Its not a must going location but the wine and jams available here are worth taking home .
