Sri Kalyana Sundareswarar Temple
From Bangalore, there's a direct train that runs daily. Also, SRS & SETC ply a bus to Mayilduthurai from Bangalore. We hired a taxi (mostly it is Ambassador that you find) & paid INR. 600 from Mayiladuthurai to the temple & back. The distance to and fro exceed 20 kms Once we reach the temple, people outside try to sell Pooja material at outrageous prices & try to convince that you be allowed inside the enclosure if garlands are not carried. The temple authority inside is hand in glove with them. However, people visiting should not heed to any of theirs & should buy a ticket for the ritual at INR. 100 inside the temple. This ticket covers everything, the ritual, the pooja material including the garland. The practices to be followed after the visit would be briefed by the priest. Lamps have to be purchased inside, INR. 20 for 5. Prasadam like Laddu has to be purchased separately.
