So as usual flight was 2 hours late, though this was informed 1 day in advance The crowywas really a problem, max people are the labours who were travelling to Dubai for work. Food was a average, in-crew behaviour was very cold No Air India express for me for next time for sure.
The way back home to India is always depressing with visuals of irresponsibility and careless attitude towards customer services in lieu of the expensive ticket fare payment. Customer satisfaction issue of the corporate AIR INDIA EXPRESS however broke it may be to give the customer his due worth for basic services paid is an important factor. DURING THE Air India Express from Singapore to Bangalore on Flight No IX 485 on-line web check in facility and lack of information on their website on the same, no clear info on website saying there is no such facility as it asks for PNR details and NAME and then circles to nowhere besides an 'Oops An error has occurred' making us helplessly try to attempt web check in unsuccessfully and thereby waste our precious valuable minute to minute which mattered a lot while on a short holiday abroad with meticulous planned day Tours and ended with failed attempting multiple times to web check-in to no avail and no response from the given customer care helpline / assistance no . So we had to ensure all of us travelling together to get seats together rather than a scattered allotment and we decided to go early to the airport and ended up with us arriving early at the airport with no information on the e-ticket about the terminal. The Singapore taxi driver quizzically asked about where to drop us as saying the Changi airport is very Big and terminal No is to be to be indicated well in advance, as we glanced through the e-ticket to find absolutely no indication of terminal No. Then google saved the day flashing Air-India Express search for terminal as Terminal 2. On finding our way through the check in counters no 6-10 were boarding the then current flight at 7 pm to Mumbai. Since ours was the very next flight at 9:05 p. M. We requested for early check in at 5 :30 p the Singapore staff at the allotted check in counters 1-5 was busy eating lunch at the check in counter, one sleeping at the desk in sitting position in full view of all the waiting travelers, another two busy chatting among themselves and. A large group of senior citizen travelers behind us were waiting eagerly to finish the check in formality. All other airlines like ANA right in front had an early check in counter but Air india Express rudely sent back 40 people waiting in the queue for the very next flight asking us to wait. For another 25 minutes before declaring the counter open until the exact moment of 3 hrs prior to check in clock strikes at 6:10 p. Thereafter checking process was OK and we proceeded to the terminal after completing immigration formalities. After all passengers were at the boarding gate enclosure past security They announced the delayed arrival of the flight and another 30 minute wait to commence boarding. It was extremely difficult for passengers to wait without having access to restroom facilities which was adjacent outside the security area. Some did take permission to re-enter but majority of us were stranded and could have been avoided by announcing the change in boarding time so access to restrooms would not be hindered for families with seniors and children . Thereafter the arrival of the airplane, we boarded the aircraft and stepped in to find a very badly maintained aircraft with torn and cracked and hard lumpy cushion seats in Red, some with no / unchanged head rest sheets hanging out of place with hair of previous users intact . The front seat pockets had torn and tattered holders of unread ably flight safety instruction leaflet where the images disappeared and. Reappeared and air sickness bags of two /3 seats missing . The food served later was terrible in selection combination and variety consisting of a dinner with a 2 inch sized veg Puff heated and wrapped carelessly in a foil, a cake slice and a veg sandwich. The request for tea was met with the air hostess hurriedly pouring 1/3rd of the cup and disappearing and not looking at request for More to fill the cup. Thereafter a full cup of hot water was served and on placing it on the awkwardly tilted tray table, spilled as soon as being placed on the tray as 'Liquids find their own levels' and the tilted base was the faulty clumsy cause . The team of hostessses did try their best but what can they do if the aircraft was in lousy condition. Toilet was good but not cleaned and had no sanitizer or seat protector cover . . The legs space between seats was tight and crumpy with pricky torn rexine cushions sticking out edges into the way though the hat racks were OK in their own space .
This was my third flight in AIE and I can vouch that the airline has grown professionally beyond the expectations. The check-in to boarding, in-flight crew handling the pax was worth mentioning. I would love to travel on this airline over and over again.
Condition of the flight is not good. Window seals damaged. Glass broken. Seat pocket condition is very bad, can not sit properly because pocket is hanging. Seems completely careless approach, we can not find such things in other players
Air India Express does not have an early check in / web check in system. Not much information was available on their website. I had booked ticket via MMT and had got only PNR number for reference. I tried for a long time to check on the internet for web check in process, their website asks for a confirmation number which is probably different from PNR as they werent accepting my PNR in it. Or they might not have an online check in system at all. The airport counter only starts 3 hours prior to the flight departure so there was a long queue for collecting boarding passes. They did not have enough blankets for the passengers and the coffee was very bad. The staff was courteous and friendly. As it was a long journey, better seating experience could have been marvelous, the journey was tiring because of the uncomfortable seats.
This was one of the worst flying experiences in my flying life. This made me ashamed to call myself an "Indian" because of this policy of Air India. They seem to take advantage of everyone, including the poor. There are agents checking your boarding passes on the gate. They have a weighing machine. They check the handbags about the weight and size, which is fair, and happens most airlines check the size . . However, in this case, if they find that your bag is overweight, the demand you to pay $18/ KG extra (Rs 1300/ kg and you don't have any option but to pay). I requested to talk to the girl from AI at the gate, and she said this is "too heavy and the overhead bin might fall" I tried talking to sense with her, that I had just gotten off Jet Airways, and they didn't ask me to check-in as there is a laptop and a carry on bag allowed. She said we don't have that policy (which is not true). I asked this girl at the gate I didn't have any checked in luggage, so I asked my bag to be gate checked, they said "that is why we are asking you for this money". I asked for the manager, and this gentlemen, who appeared was nice but there are the answers that I got . Further questions I asked:. 1) Could I go out and check it in? Answer: No. 2) Could I not board the flight and get a refund? Answer: We will have to offload you and there is no refund . 3) Could you gate-check it? Especially because I don't have any checked in luggage and consider it my checked in luggage? "Dubai airport charges us for this" and, I paraphrase, this is there charges not ours. Notice the check in staff at the counter didn't ask me to check-in my carryon bag and now I am at the gate 10 min before departure time The worse part of this all is that I watched others who are not well off being forced to pay. You had to go to the ATM, (a travelex ATM) which happens to be close by to take cash out. I had to pay international cash exchange charges, a very high exchange rate (because that is the only ATM accessible). People who seem genuinely strapped for cash, people who had Duty free items in a bag (chocolates), where asked to pay for the items they had just bought. People's who's ATM card didn't work (my card didn't work the first time as well). People who were pleading with them to let there 1 KG over-limit to board the flights with the loved ones. Also, they ONLY take CASH! This seemed like an extortion! I understand that AI needs to make money, but the image of this policy, if true, is really bad. Not just for the AI but for the entire nation. Most people don't realize what the / kg rules are. Either you check it at the counter and give an option for people to re-pack, offload etc or allow them to gate check.
Very bad experience wrh airindia express. I have suffered lots of time with air India express. I would highly suggest choose airindia express if there's no other flight travelling to your final destination
Overall the flight was good, considering the flight time from Manglore to Dubai is only 2. 45 hrs. Timely departure and arrival . Few dropbacks:. 1) Seating comfort. No push back options for few seats. Interestingly some seats had and mine didn't :(. 2) The samosa served was way too oily .
