The most Charming place we have ever been to. From the individually painted murals in the room walls, to the lotus in the natural pond like swimming pool, this is as charming as it gets.
We were completely transported back to the Amar Chitra Katha stories we read as children.
In today\'s day and age this is as close you can get to your roots and to nature.
It is extremely inspiring to see the eco ways actually being practiced here. Sustainability is beautifully exemplified. You return with a consciousness on what impact each household can have by incorporating simple practices in our lifestyle.
A must have experience.
Best Experience: The list is long but here are a few:
-Star gazing from the cozy choricle. -Trek in the forest close by, where we spotted a peacock and beautiful butterflies. -Candle light dinner under the million stars. -The warmth and hospitality of the host and staff. -Watching the local village potter help guests make their own little masterpiece.
Booking was very easy. Rooms were comfortable. Location of the hotel is not that convenient to reach. Probably it will help if they can put up some sign boards which guide to the hotel. Otherwise stay was good.
\'Our native village\' treads off the beaten track; our one day stay gave us a perspective on how much modern housing go against nature\'s norms. Ram and his team have created a sensible environment where they have thought over every little detail and created an innovative structure. The building and environment is thought provoking- the swimming pool uses natural water plant to regenerate water making it clean and chemical free. The rooms use clay bricks and towels conserve water. The rooms are tastefully decorated with madhubani art and most electricity is generated using a windmill and solar panels. The waste is bio degraded and converted to biogas and bio mass...interesting...must visit at least once
Best Experience: Ram and his family add a personal touch to the experience by narrating anecdotes and giving you little nuggets of information on bio conservation; I came back determined to start processing my household waste. They have a coracle complete with durries and pillows (minus the water)where a family can snuggle into under the moonlight and watch stars. Kite flying is a great way to make friends with fellow visitors. and the roaring winds will ensure 100% success in taking your kite up in the sky. The staff is courteous and passionate
Worst Experience: There is room for improvement in food ....bigger spread, better appearance and better taste needed.
Well the ride was good! The resort is approx. 40 kms from Bangalore city and it was nice to get out of the busy city. Once there though you might feel a bit apprehensive about the whole place. Its more like a farm house than a resort. We were greeted with garlands and the people were very hospitable. The rooms were a bit dark but overall looked neat. As per our itenerary we were given a small tour of the place and then headed out for lunch. I must say the food is fabulous. And i also liked the idea of an open kitchen. It was very homely and reminded me of my mothers cooking! Later in the day we went for the bullock cart rides and kite making and flying sessions. I particularly enjoyed the idea of taking the cycle out and roaming around the area. On the whole i\'d say its an ideal place to just relax and take your mind away from the busy schedules of the city.
Best Experience: Its very rare that you get to sit around and relax yourself and that\'s exactly why i liked Our Native Viallge the most. Because it has a very calm atmosphere to it. All the activities that were organised were interesting and i particularly enjoyed gali danda. But the best part most certainly was the cycle ride. Riding down the pastuers and enjoying the cool breeze. It was definetely the highlight of my weekend stay at Our Native Village
Worst Experience: I felt the tour of the place was a bit boring. It was quiet informative but apart from explanations on the energy sources there really wasnt anythign else. I also disliked the fact that they smoked my entire room. Although it was to keep away the mosquitoes i was quite uncomfortable and it kinda screwed up my sleep.
