In four-star hotels, below are some necessary conditions that should be applied:-
All rooms (100%) should have Air-Conditioners.
Suites - minimum 2% of room block with a minimum of 1.
Minimum size of bathrooms should be 36 square feet.
Some rooms should have bathtubs.
Hair Dryers should be available in rooms.
Safe keeping should be available in rooms.
Minibar / Fridge is mandatory in rooms.
Heating and cooling to be provided in public areas and temperature should be between
20 to 28 degree celsius.
Grade A cities:
One multi-cuisine restaurant cum coffee shop open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., one speciality restaurant and 24 hr room service.
Grade B cities:
One multi-cuisine restaurant open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. and 24 hr room service.
Note: The Ministry of Tourism may review and revise the cities falling under the Grade 'A' & Grade 'B' from time to time.
Grade A: Delhi*, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Pune, Hyderabad/ Secunderabad.
*Delhi would include the hotels falling in Gurgaon, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, NOIDA and Greater NOIDA.
Grade B: Cities in the rest of the country excluding Grade 'A' cities.
There should be a bar present at the hotel premises.
In the kitchen, wet garbage area to be air-conditioned.
Percentage of supervisory staff should be minimum 40% and hotels of 4-Star category should have formally qualified Heads of Departments.
Percentage of skilled staff should be minimum 30%. The supervisory or the skilled staff may have training or skill certification as follows:
i. Degree / diploma from Central or state IHM's / FCI's or from NCHMCT affiliated IHM's or from other reputed hospitality schools.
ii. Skill training certificate issued under the guidelines and scheme of the Ministry of Tourism.
Staff restrooms (Separate for male and female employees with bunk beds, well-lighted and ventilated), staff locker rooms and dining area are mandatory.
Paid Transportation on call - guest should be able to travel from hotel.
Shoe cleaning service facility to be provided for in-house guests.
Newspapers should be available in the rooms.
Shop / Kiosk: 4-Star to have minimum one utility shop.
There should be Under Belly Scanners to screen vehicles.
Each bedroom door fitted with lock and key, viewport / peephole & internal securing device. A safety chain / wishbone latch is acceptable in place of viewport / peephole.
A telephone for incoming & outgoing calls in the room is Mandatory. Four-star hotels should have direct dialling and STD/ ISD facilities.
In-room internet connection / data port is mandatory in 4 star hotels and there should be WiFi wherever possible.
There should be a business centre for business meetings. This should be a dedicated area.
(This provision may be relaxed for resort destinations, tourist and pilgrimage centres).
I had booked the room by online. There was a beach in front of the hotel. Everything was good in the hotel. The check-in and check-out was on time. The complimentary breakfast was provided by the hotel. The food quality was good. WiFi connection was not available in the hotel. Limited varieties of food were provided by the hotel. I would suggest that to provide more varieties in the food.
The hotel was located nearby the beach. The ambience of the hotel was good. The garden was available at the hotel. The allotted room was nice in the hotel. The activities were arranged by the hotel. All amenities were available in working condition. The food quality was good in the hotel.
I didn’t find any difficulty in reaching the hotel. The staffs at the hotel were hygienic and friendly. The food served at the hotel was good and at reasonable price. The room allotted to me was neat clean and well maintained. The quality of the food was good. The hotel was conveniently located. The activities were not there at the hotel. The surrounding of the hotel was good.
The resort is simply awesome, the location, view and infrastructure is excellent. Food also was good. Perhaps the only drawback in this resort is that employees lack professionalism and training. They are very courteous however. Really a good place to stay.
We had a very good experience with this resort. The rooms are neat and clean, staff were very courteous. The reception was good when we reached, immediately a clean big room was assigned. It's a fairly new property looks like. The property has a clean swimming pool, decent restaurant, play area for kids as well. So, for a family it's a good place. The breakfast was good with around 5 to 6 items served. Food options of course are great. The beach is right opposite but, you need to cross the road (empty most of the times). Beach is clean and not at all crowded, overall, a nice vacation place.
