Kodaikanal is family\'s favourite holiday destination and we visit Kodaikanal once in two years while during the consecutive years we experiment with other destinations. The highlight of Kodai is that it is not yet commercialised completely with the greenery and colonial style still intact unlike Ooty which has been destroyed. We reached Kodai on 4th of May 2010 and stayed at JC residency, Naidupuram where we had booked three rooms. The booking was through one HolidayIQ\'s agent leisureasia.
Talking about JC\'s residency, the hotel is good but the standard of Super deluxe rooms must improve considering the tariff they charge per day. One of the rooms(Room No.114) had some waste water leakage which was stinking however the maintenance staff used to clean it continously but this was unacceptable considering the tariff they charged us The resort has facility for campfire and barbeque with mini bird park and most interesting birds are the Emu. The restaurant is good and the food is good. However they struggle to manage when there are large crowds. The restaurant tends to become messy when a crowd of 35-40 people gather at a time.
The service from the restaurant was good and the highlight was this girl called Shalini who was very active, quick and pleasant in providing us the service. However there is no beer served here since they do not have license.
Best Experience: The best experience was the service in the restaurant and Shalini has to be appreciated. Even during the peak crowd time, the service team ensured that we have our food on time.
Worst Experience: The worst experience we had was staying room no 114 since there was a waste water leakage which was stinking and required regular cleaning. Though the hotel staff was swift in cleaning the place regularly, they should not have rented out the room considering the tariff charged.
Another was that the floor is uneven near the room no 209 which is the passage for walking to the children\'s play area. Two elderly people from my family slipped and fell on consecutive days.
Another issue was the painting of the equipments in the children\'s play area. This should have been scheduled during non season time and not during peak season time
Country Club Valley Vista, Kodaikanal is situated five kilometres deep from the main road leading to Kodaikanal. This five km stretch of the so called up and down road is horrible, which takes more than thirty minutes to cover in a car. It is dangerous to drive on this road which is broken at more than half its length. The so called resort is situated about eleven Kms from Kodaikanal town, and no public conveyance is available at all. You can either travel to the Kodaikanal town or for sightseeing in your own vehicle, or depend on the vehicles provided by the hotel's travel desk, at exorbitant rates. Going to Kodaikanal town costs you a minimum of Rs. 700/-. The sightseeing Tours cost you from Rs. 1800/- to Rs. 3000/- per day. The ambience and rooms are normal. The restaurant is good, and personal care is taken to prepare your ala-carte food orders. The hotel staff and front desk services are good and supportive. We stayed at the above Resort for a week from 28 /09/2015 to 04/10/2015, and every evening the Event management staff kept us busy in fun games and other events. Overall, I would suggest this resort to only those people who want a budget hotel at Kodaikanal, have their own chauffeur driven vehicle and wish to spend some time away from the city crowd and pollution, amongst nature's bounty.
We stayed for 3 days at Kodai by the Lake property. Being a sterling property we had very high expectation. But, it really turned out to be very bad experience. Starting from the call center experience while booking the hotel stay. Really unprofessional bunch. We had to keep calling them to get the confirmation vouchers evenif after doing online reservation. Cancellation and refund process is also very bad. We had been struggling since last 45 days for getting a refund for one of the rooms which we cancelled. Absolute irresponsibility by the reservaton team Property is below average. Rooms are really cramped. Bathrooms are not maintained properly. It's an old property without proper maintenance. Food quality is good, but priced very high. As we didn't have options nearby we had to opt for the resort dinning. I wouldn't recommend anyone for this sterling property option.
So on 1 May in morning around 9. 15 am we call the Hotel SUBA KRISHMAA RESIDENCY, Kodaikanal to inform them that we are reaching Kodaikanal in about half an hour so that they can prepare our room. But rather for our surprise or we can say a shock they have told us that they don't have any information regarding our booking and haven't received any voucher from Make My Trip for our booking ID. I immediately call Make My Trip customer care and explain them the whole situation. The person from customer care who attended my call first confirmed the issue with the hotel and after that transferred my call to some senior executive of Make My Trip. Who promised me that he will sort out the issue and give me a call back . . After around 15-20 minutes later I received a call from one of your executive named Hatel, she assures me that I don't have to panic and my booking for the same hotel and booking ID is reconfirmed as there were some miss-communication from there side before. But now everything is sorted out and I'll not face any issues regarding check-in Now around 10 am when we reached SUBA KRISHMAA RESIDENCY, Kodaikanal, I showed my Booking Voucher to Mr. Pandian who is the hotel manager I think. He very rudely told me that Madam I have already told Make My Trip and now again telling you that I haven't received any voucher for your booking so we can't give you any room, I don't have any empty room Let me add this that it was a long weekend and all Kodaikanal hotels are jam packed and tariffs are very high. We have already paid for our hotel and not have enough money to go for a new hotel room now. Again we called Make My Trip and give the customer executive so he transferred our call to Her. I have told her everything and she told me to give the call to the Manager was very rude and literally started shouting on her. After that manager executive told me that I don't need to worry and some senior executive of her will talk to hotel manager and sort everything out. After that I talked to the manager and told him that I have already paid for this hotel and can't go anywhere else. He told me that he don't have any rooms vacant and only has 1 honeymoon suite which he can give me. Tariff of the honeymoon suite is 3800 per day. Now meanwhile let me tell you that people are coming to his hotel and asking for tariff for which he is replying 1300 that time I thought that it must be some other room type. But later I realized that the hotel has only 2 types of room, one Honeymoon suite and rest are Standard Double Room Now I am very much hurt and ashamed to tell you that in our own country he is discriminating just because we are from North and telling lie on our face that he doesn't have any vacant room and offering us only one option which was way out of our budget and for other people he is offering the same room in 1300 for which we have paid 2000 per day plus 427 per day taxes. Clearly he was inching the situation We were in a very tensed situation because we don't have any other option. Now for our rescue some senior executive of Make My Trip talked to the manager and he finally gave us that honeymoon suite for 1 day and told him to transfer us in Standard Double Room for 2nd day. At 12. 30 pm we finally check-in spoiling our mood and 1 day tour of Kodaikanal. As I wish to visit the solar laboratory which is only open on Friday between 10-12. Especially for which we have came on Friday is now cannot be visited. 1 whole day sightseeing I have missed just because of this drama created by that manager in which I don't have any fault Now about the Honeymoon suite which I have checked-in now. It was hardly meeting the amenities I have paid for even after it was an upgraded room. Missing amenities are which were quoted in the add on Make My Trip by hotel . * Daily News Paper. * Mineral Water. * Sofa Unit. * Snacks Basket. * Room Heater. * Fruit Basket . * Safety Deposit Locker but if you call a wooden drawer a safety deposit locker then that was present in the room. And the Bath tub which they have in this room was a joke in itself it doesn't have any tap to fill it, only 1 hand shower. Bathtub was huge so it was impossible to fill it with warm water using a low capacity Geyser. We were forced to take Bath using the shower because it was not possible to take Bath in the Bath tub with cold water. Also they didn't provided the toiletries required for Bath tub Bath even after asking for liquid soap I was just hoping maybe the room I have chosen has a manageable bathtub, but I was wrong to expect that. On the second day they have transferred us in Standard Double Room which doesn't have any amenities they have listed on your site. I have mentioned the list of missing amenities in the start. I asked the manager about the missing amenities so he replied that It is Makemytrip's doing and they don't have any role in this. I told him that it is clearly cheating and very misleading for the customers SO FRIENDS ITS MY SUGGESTION TO YOU ALL WHEN YOU BOOK YOUR HOTEL INDIVIDUALLY VIA ONLINE OR VIA ANY SITE PLEASE CROSS VERIFY THE FACILITIES BY CALLING THEM AND ALSO CHECK THE TARIFF ON OF SAME HOTEL ON OTHER ONLINE WEBSITES.
Very good hotel with beautiful calm and pleasant ambience
It was a holiday trip with family to Kodaikanal. I had a peaceful and calm ambience with a beautiful view from the room. The best thing about this hotel is the interiors and the room service. It was comfortable and convenient to reach the hotel. It takes ten minutes to reach from the bus stand. I did not have any problem in the hotel but only the kitchen use to close very soon. The staff were friendly and very quick in service. There was no delay in check-in and check-out and it has done just with a phone call. The ambience of the hotel has very maintained and there were some pictures in the room, which was very good. All the amenities were working in good condition. There was a good view from the hotel room. They clean the room regularly and there was no problem in water facility. They provided both North Indian and South Indian varieties and the quality was good but only vegetarian food. The price was reasonable. The hotel did not organise any activities and I did not notice any facilities like gym or swimming pool but the hotel organized sightseeing trip. The destination was value for money. I would stay in the same hotel if I go to Kodaikanal again. I would recommend the hotel to other travellers. I visited this hotel in January 2013.
