it was a pleasant trip.it was made more memorable due the resort. it is such a nice resort and the staff are very helpful(except for the person in charge of reception who is very rude). The staff helped us in every respect. The quqlity of food was very good. We( myself , my wife and our grandson of 4 years old) stayed there for 3 nights and 4 days and enjoyed the vacation
Worst Experience: the person in charge of reception was very rude. When we asked to see the cottages before staying in our room which we had booked beforehand online, he flatly refused saying that the resort was fully booked. The fact was that hardly 10% of the cottages and rooms were booked. Except for him, all other staff including Mr Rajasekhar and the staff in dining hall were very cordial and helpful
Magical views & well-furnished with all equipments
The hotel is having amazing, magical with lovely landscape views. Our stay was for 2night and 1day. I drove 486 Km from Bangalore to Kodai. Hotel is 4 km away from main city, only Google can find this hotel in the map. You need to take the next road from Sterling Holiday Hotel, after 2 min drive you will find the hotel. You will be out of Mobile coverage area. Once you come near to the uphill road you can find very low coverage Rooms are little small compare to other hotels, but they are refurnished with all equipments. The hotels have big area to roam around, also maintained. It is just like a picture perfect views. They will arrange camp fire every night with many activity. Not like other resorts put a fire in the middle and start music and guest will be sitting around the fire doing nothing. They will make you dance, sing, everything you like. Housekeeping and room service are very prompt, any time you call them between 8am to 10pm they will be at your door step Food is again amazing, it will be a 5 star quality. You will get buffet dinner at night, but little bit higher side. I use to have buffet breakfast and a la chart in dinner and lunch at Rs. 1000 for me, my wife and son Overall a great weekend
Kodai is an enchanting hill city in the Nilgiri Mountains, very popular. The hotel is a beautiful resort nestled in a valley with greenery all round. The hotel grounds are well tended with lush lawns and flowers, polite staff and good food.
Best Experience: The hotel organised a camp fire on one of the wintery evenings which we thought was a wonderful way of 'warming' up to other guests. The music was quite lively too.
Worst Experience: On one of the mornings we didn't have hot water in the shower but the staff promptly provided hot water in buckets. This we thought was pretty 'cool'.
Superb hillstation and superb resort. We had visited Hill country, Ooty in 2008 and backed by a great experience there, we planned to visit Hill country, Kodai this year. And it was really worth our money and time, coz it was a really mesmerizing and memorable trip. To start with the location of the resort is superb (though 6 km from the centre), they have a huge area which is very well-maintained, with lots of greenery, unseen varieties of flowers(took lot of snaps) and it is surrounded by hills which gives an additional charm to the resort. We went in June but still the weather was chilly so plz carry light woollens along. It rained only once and that too was a passing drizzle. Booking was a bit tricky as the front-staff dont regularly access emails and you have to constantly remind them to check/send emails. In terms of outdoor activities, they have children park, daily activities like movie on one day, bon-fire on other and so on, also they have badminton court (you have to buy the racket and shuttle from front office-Rs. 150 per pair). Indoor activities comprises carrom, TT, library, ludo, chess, snakes and ladders which are free and Pool, snooker, video game, and couple of others which are chargeable. They also have Health club Sowkhya which gives ayurvedic massage packages starting from 1350/- per session to 8500 for 3 sessions(3 days). Service of the hotel is excellent and if you just want to relax and chill, and dont want to go out (sightseeing and all)...then this is the best hotel to relax. In terms of sightseeing, u have boating/cycling in/around kodai lake (6 kms), coaker\'s walk (7-8 kms), pillar\'s rock (16 kms) and pine forest.
Best Experience: -Superb location -Superb service -good cottages with private gardens
Worst Experience: -wont call it worst but the variety in terms of dishes available should increase especially for Veggies. The high point for food is their breakfast menu which is good.
I came to know about the resort from an advt. Put up on my office notice-board by a travel agency. The package (Honeymoon Package, for details checkout the resort website) looked enticing and so I decided to go ahead with the booking through the agency. Also since our booking was over the Good Friday weekend, we wanted the return tickets (since you cannot book the Kodai-Blore tickets from Blore) to be booked in advance and hence I requested the hotel reception to do the needful. It was a good thing too - since I learnt later that the buses were all full by the time we reached Kodai . . The resort gives a feeling of being in some dream world - there are a number of cottages, independent ones and strayed ones having studio and normal apartments. Lush green lawn all around, with music played continuously (courtesy WorldSpace XM), playgrounds for children, TT and carrom tables and the bonfire in the evenings. The resort is located some 7-8 kms away from the town and the local taxi's charge a cool 100 bucks from one way travel. That would be the only discomfort as far as the resort location is concerned - tho the resort surroundings are idyllic, a small village and surrounded by hills. The sunset view was breathtaking. The quality of the food served needs improvement - its very oily :-( !!
Best Experience: The afternoon boat ride in the lake was wonderful - cool breeze, enchanting houses around the lake (some built during the British period) and the tales narrated by our boatsman. After a 45 minute ride in the lake we decided to cycle around the lake. This is another good activity and its fun riding around the path made all around the lake - you get cycles on rent for just Rs.10 per hour.. one caution look around a bit for the good cycles since most of the cycles are badly maintained .. having a good cycle enhances the ride experience :-)! We spent time in the evening roaming around town on foot and that was fun too - you get to experience life in a small hillstation. We had a complimentary half-day siteseeing ride and that took us to the wellknown spots like - Coakers Walk, Pine Forest (my personal favourite - so many pine trees!) and some more. The best part of the trip was the trek which we took. The hotel has a person in charge of the bonfire and outdoor activities. We went on a trek with him early in the morning to a hill top behind the resort. It was an easy trek (not too steep/tiring) some 5kms. The path took us through a village spread over the hill slope and after sometime we were all alone with eucalyptus trees and lush green grass for company. But the best part was the view from the top - we had the most marvellous sight of looking at the Western Ghats spread as far as the eyes could see!! In all a very refreshing short trip (2nights and 3 days + 2 nights of travel by bus). Full marks for the resort in terms of good wellmaintained rooms. Also I feel we missed out the summer holiday crowd and hence had a memorable trip!
