My visit was personal and short break from routine job. I like to travel and drive my self. Booked the club before day I arrived, the follow up from the club side and the hospitality at the entrance was good I booked for single room, but me being with my kids they offered double bed room. This is first thing I liked in this stay. The location of this club is bit harder to reach as the roads leading to this valley is very bad. I scared again to go back to city to go around the places in my own car, so I hired a cab from the club. Though the cab was late in arrival but the driver was so good and patiently took us all around the places, it was good experience with the cab driver and also avoiding all traffic and parking hurdles The location of the club, the valley view from the room and pleasant weather was very good and was asking me to stay one more day. One thing I would like to advice the club is to improve the food quality and room service. I advice travellers to go to this place if want to stay there and just enjoy the beauty of landscape along with your partner.
The hotel is at a mountain side and many of its rooms have good views of the valley. The food in their restaurant is amazing and the staff is also friendly. But I faced some problems which I am listing below: . . 1. The restaurant was not always open during the day and they were only serving limited food outside lunch and dinner hours. Plus sometimes they used to take long to prepare and serve the food 2. Their travel desk was not organized. We wanted to request for a vehicle to take us back to Madurai but nobody at the front desk knew how to book it. They kept passing the responsibility to others and I had to follow up a number of times to finally get the vehicle 3. The billing at the front desk was slow. The guy was struggling to collect the bills and make a single invoice. He missed a bill which I pointed out. I feel they need to have a process to manage their restaurant and front desk 4. The rooms were very small and had a bed and plastic chair for furniture. There was no cupboard and table to keep our stuff They took effort to arrange for evening programs which I appreciate. There wasn't much to do outside the hotel. We went out for a day tour in Kodaikanal and that was all that we found to do.
I'm from bangaluru, I visited this place with my wife this March, its a very nice place to stay, the weather was very good, we reached the place at 8 am it was a cloudy day we checked in to the hotel and found that the room was pretty neat and clean Overall we enjoyed the hotel stay, the valley view was pretty awesome, having breakfast at villa retreat watching the valley view is an experience in itself, the first day while having breakfast we were surrounded by mist and we still cherish that moment Food offered at villa retreat was also good, but you will feel bored to have the same food to have every day if you are staying for more than 3 days, so try some outside food There are some very nice views and locations to visit while you stay, better opt for the package that the villa retreat offers, they will arrange a separate vehicle for couple. We personally recon to visit all the view points each of them are good in its own way. Go for boat ride at the lake, take a rented bicycle and go around the lake for a spin, have a walk at the park, Travel advice:. If you are visiting form Bangaluru please try to take buses, we had a very bad experience by taking private travels bus (parveen travels) they will false promise you that they will take you on time but the bus will stop some were in Hour for loading cargo for at-least an hour and half after boarding passengers its very irritating . OR you can opt for Train till Kodai road and take a cab to hill top, its the best option, cause the Volvo buses services are available only on weekends Take some warm clothing if you are visiting in winter, at times it will be very chill and unbearable Overall it a very nice place for couples to stay and enjoy the beauty that nature offers Hope this info may help you !. Thanks for taking time out to read this Best Regards ,. Traveller.
We stayed in Villa Retreat, Kodai Between Feb 26 nad Mar 2, 2011 for five days. I had a pleasant experience right from bookin the rooms till we checked out. We stayed in deluxe room and the view mountains from the room and from the lawn of the hotel was outstanding. The first thing to be mentioned about this place is the hospitality of the hotel. Its excellent and kudos to the management (Zoheb) and the staff (Ashok, the other serving staff). These guys are very professional yet friendly and are there for help when required.
Best Experience: Good things about this place: 1. Friendly, co-operative, down to earth and helpful staff and management 2. Very organised 3. Good location. 4. Guest services are good. 5. Clean and hygenic rooms 6. Excellent gestures towards guests by offering pick and drop from railway station/bus stand, providing the cute memorabilia to guests during check out.
Worst Experience: Areas of Improvement: 1. The kitchen has to be completed ASAP, this is a big roadblock for this place. Usually guests come here to relax and I would not appreciate the fact that I have to go around places to have decent food (though they are near to hotel). They also serve the food from hotels, but then you will not be sure about the quality of the place where it is cooked. This has to be complted on a priority. 2. The geysers in the room are very slow in heating and give only a litlle quantity of hot water. I suggest the hotel management to install instant geysers to overcome the problems. 3. Internet services should be provided to the guests (atleast to those who request this. 4. Credit Card payment not possible.
The overall experience at the hotel was okay. The best thing I liked about this hotel was its location. The location of the hotel was good. It was conveniently located. It was located at a walk able distance from the bus stand. The hotel had not served any hard drink over there. The staff of the hotel were good. The manager of the hotel was very good. They were quick to attend my request. I was happy with the room allotted to me. The delay was not made during check-in and check-out. The interiors of the hotel were good. The room was spacious, neat, clean and maintained. The amenities in the room were functioning properly. They regularly cleaned the room. They provided cold and hot water facility all the time. The hotel had provided veg food. The quality of the food was good. The food was reasonable in price. There was no gym and other activities at the hotel. They had only a spa over there. The overall destination was good and value for money. I would like to recommend this hotel to other travellers. The kitchen was closed so early so I would suggest them to increase the timings of the kitchen and serve hard drinks. The hotel had organized a sightseeing trip for us, but we had our own arrangement so we take that. It was a relaxing trip with my family.
