We stayed here for five days in August 2015. Location of the hotel on a hill top is an attraction of this hotel to enjoy the nature and the green valley surroundings. It is situated high enough to have a good view of valley/city. The view from the room is spectacular and one cannot miss the early morning sunrise view from the balcony. Hotel is located very close to Kodak lake and croakers walk. Located slightly away from the city and that too on a steep hill top. For old people who cannot walk or climb uphill it is not advisable to stay in this hotel. Staff are friendly and cooperative. Rooms are big and clean with basic amenities like 24 hour running hot water. Room also have a big window facing towards valley. We can enjoy the beauty of rising sun from our balcony itself. There were not many people staying at the time of our visit and the food was prepared only few people with little variety. Still we enjoyed our time in this hotel. Chattier Park is just opposite the hotel which is worth a visit. Kurinji Andavar temple is also very closely very near to the hotel by walk able distance.
Salubrious Hill station near Temple town Palani in Tamilnadu also near to Madurai another Temple city. Kodai Sunshine is well located near a tourist point namely Chettiar Park, the hotel has good accommodation lovely rooms well furnished well maintained and clean. The hotel is still under construction many amenities being added near completion. The food is on a la carter quiet good and on house breakfast a good spread was made available. View facing rooms are a treat to sunrise and sunset the staff quiet cordial tho running hot water was not available, it was provided morning and evening. As Kodaikanal is a sightseeing destination invariably all are mostly outdoor a whole day may not be enough to go around. Our family with kids enjoyed trip to KODAIKANAL" poor mans OOTY" it seems.
Hotel & Amenities: Situated at a breathtaking point & hardly few KM from the bus stop, this place turned out to be the same as we saw it on the web Page. The view at 360 degree is full of green and serene. Since it was monsoon, we couldn't see the sunrise or the sunset but yet the view around the valley made it up for it. The Deluxe room(#213) was spacious and hygienic with Hot/Warm water supply from morning till noon & in the night. Deluxe room will suit you if you are out doors most of the time else one can opt for the Suite for the panoramic view outside Staff: The staff was humble and polite. Helped us in verifying the cab driver details whom we had hired for sight seeing during our stay(this was unusual and nice) Food: The option is limited yet economical. Don't have high expectation on variety however one should definitely try their Signature Masala Dissolved it) Advice to Travelers: Carry warm clothes, irrespective of the season. Carry a good pair of shoes if you are planning an adventurous trip. Trek to Dolphin's nose (never miss it). Food should not be a problem since the place is very well occupied by a lot of eateries. Hotel Hilltop Inn serves the best food around. Plan your schedule before you step out for the day, it will save a lot of time. Never hesitate to check the Hotel reception for details for local sightseeing. ATM's are plenty, which is an added point. My Experience: The breathtaking view of Dolphin's nose was the best part of our journey. Felt like heaven. Overall an awesome stay, an equally awesome place to be during the monsoon or any other time of the year. 3 cheers to this lovely place.
This is a very decent budget hotel. If you are not looking for anything else than good accommodation and basic amenities, I would recommend this hotel. I stayed in standard room at ground floor and was satisfied, I was bit worried before the trip since most of reviews I had seen were from people who had stayed in deluxe room. But room was spacious, neat and clean Service is good and hotel guys are very helping Location is excellent. Kodai lake is at walkable distance. And if you just step out of the hotel, you will find Coakers walk and Bryant park Overall, we had a nice pleasant stay there.
The location of the hotel is before entering into Kodaikanal main town. The road to the destination was very bad for last 1 kilometre but the location of the hotel is very serene and quiet. It is surrounded by farms and full of greenery I lived in studio rooms. The rooms have a beautiful window with sitting space where you can lie and keep Reading a wonderful book without worrying of the passed time. Every room is connected to an open long passage, giving it a real feel of a bungalow. Room was of adequate size with only problem of not having a cupboard/rack to stack clothes. This really creates an inconvenience as one can't even hang clothes Food was good, especially the breakfast with reasonable variety every day Housekeeping was timely and good as well. The hotel does not have a swimming pool but if you love nature and calm/quietness, you absolutely do not need one, considering the location and structure of the building and patios of the rooms. Kids have a small playing area with rose garden and some basic play amenities There is a beautiful road going ahead from the hotel, which on a sunny day is a walk in the heaven (we faced 2 days of continuous rains) Summary - Kodaikanal is an excellent place, hotel has beautiful location, rooms have beautiful view. Only challenge is storage in the room. Food is not great but good. Overall, worth a visit once. I hope the road has been repaired as my visit had been a little over a year earlier.
