The resort is located 20 km from Trivandram airport. The car as promised was waiting for us and the drive along the coast was beautiful. Check-in was very quick and we were given a ample sized cottage that had a beautiful view of the sea. The resort ambience is excellent with lots of coconut trees and a variety of flowering plants throughout the grounds. The restaurant serves a variety of food and the staff are very attentive and cheerful. Their breakfast spread was awesome. The pool is well maintained. They have a variety of Ayurveda wellness packages and there is an in-house doctor to recommend the right one in case you chose to take one of the packages. The beach is excellent, though the depth at the shoreline is also quite high and with the rocks around, one needs to be good swimmer to venture into the sea. The chef invited all of us for a short cookery course of two dishes at the resorts kitchen. I felt this was a nice touch. No special programmes during the evening, except to listen to the waves breaking on the beach, which is very restful, if you are looking for a relaxed holiday.
Best Experience: Excellent ambience, friendly staff, good food and awesome location...what more can one ask for !
Worst Experience: They prepared the tandoori dishes in coconut oil, which was subsequently corrected upon our request
We stayed in this resort enroute to our honeymoon trip to Maldives and back. It was a good expirience. The best part of the resort is that it is located very near the sea. So on can experience the billowing sea through the balcony of the room. The food and service was very goos, and typical Kerala style. The resort also boasts of a ayurveda centre. However the rooms could use som refurbishing and redecorating as they seem a little bare. Go and try the Kerala cuisine its great and though the chef makes a good attempt at continental cusine. A room next to the sea will only make the visit to the resot perfect. And for its pricing - its worth a visit
Best Experience: well, the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. they would enquire about airport drops and pickups required without being too obvious.
Worst Experience: the rooms require some touching up. paint cominng off the walls was not a good sight
Stayed at this hotel in the month of October 2015, location is near the Kovalam beach. There were so many cockroaches in the room, bathroom was dirty, no WiFi signal, food was pathetic. We wanted to go for a la chart but the manager suggested his own dishes which were already a part of the buffet. Within 2 minutes of ordering we were surprised then we realized that he got the food that was already prepared in the buffet. It was served cold and wasn't fresh. He saved his expenses of meal preparation but charged us full amount for those dishes. In the name of hospitality he bought another dish that we had not ordered and later on charged it also. In all if we had bought the buffet it would have been cheaper. In all deliberately did this, we later on felt cheated. So I'll never recommend anyone to stay at this resort.
I have stayed in UDS for two days (I was on my honeymoon), and I am very sorry to say that it was my worst hospitality experience till date. I have never expected such hospitality who claims that it had so many international honors
Worst Experience: 1. When we entered the room, the Air Conditioner was out of order, the technician came on my call and the A/C was made to work, still the cooling was not upto the mark and I was told that it will take at least 1-1.5 hour to cool the room. After repairing, when the compressor starts working, It was continuously realizing us its presence through a very irritating sound like a tractor. I don\'t know from which part of the world you guys have purchased these high quality A/C\'s 2. The glasses in the room, which clearly states that \'these glasses are cleaned upto perfection\' were so untidy that when I poured water from a water bottle impurities were floating all over. 3. The quality of the blanket that was given in the room was of the same quality as which is provided by Indian Railways in the trains. I called the house keeping to change the blanket or to replace it with a quilt, they straight forwardly refused it saying that they have only this quality of blankets available in the resort and no quilts are available. 4. I requested the house keeping for extra pillows, The pillows arrived at my door step after 2 hours of the request and that too after reminding thrice. 5. After taking breakfast (at around 10:00 a.m.), I along with my wife headed to the beach, and was expecting that our room would be cleaned when we will return for lunch, we return at 2:45 pm and the room was in the same condition in which we have left it in the morning, I called the house keeping and got it cleaned then. 6. Above all, I requested your staff (reception), to give me a wake up call at 4:00 a.m. as I have a flight to catch at 7:00 a.m, Luckily my wife had put a alarm in her mobile phone and we have got ready on time, till check out (at 5:15 a.m.) I have not received any call from the reception, In my opinion, Hotel wake up call is the most reliable option for a person if he want to wake up in the odd hours, but I am very sorry to say, If I would have relied on the most reliable option, I would have missed my flight.
I stayed in Sea Rock hotel for attending a conference in Trivandrum. The stay was horrible. My friends staying in near by Jeevan Hotel was laughing at us hearing our experience. Their stay in Jeevan hotel near by was awesome, and if you are going to Kovalam, kindly stay in any other hotel. They are far better than Sea Rock. From the first day itself problem started. Reception people are so bad. You wont get any service from them. And don't ever think to have a good breakfast from there. The place you get break fast is a room which don't even have proper flooring. Even its not properly concreted and is very dirty. Break fast will start at 8 and they will bring half of the items after 8. 45, so that you don't have it. During our four days of stay, one day we waited till 9, to get a cup of coffee with breakfast and still we did not get. From 8 o clock they were telling that we shall get it in few minute. Finally we went out and had coffee. Pathetic experience with the Hotel. Even the worker are not mannered. If you ask why you are not getting, they will laugh at us or make fun of us. Trust me, you wont even get good drinking water in this hotel. Never ever stay in this Hotel. Even if you are still not convinced, don't book for more than one day. You stay there a single day and will understand what I have told here. You have lot of good Hotels in Kovalam. Think wise and never get fooled by Sea Rock People.
