We had heard a lot about the magnificent backwaters of Kerala. We therefore booked at the Royal Grove resort of the Karma Group along with a friend (*couple) of ours. After a 4 hour flight from Delhi to Kochi and a 2 hour taxi ride from Kochi, when we arrived at the resort it was like a dream come true. Located right on the backwaters, the resort was really picturesque. Received a hearty welcome from the staff. The rooms were spacious and refurnished. The pool was mid sized and there was a Welland spa. Plenty of activities like Pool, Carom, TT etc. The resort organized a day trip to Munnar which is about 3 hours drive from the resort We also took an overnight tour on the houseboat owned by the resort which took us up to Alleppey and served us with authentic Kerala style food On the whole our stay at Royal Grove was really memorable.
The location is excellent. Amenities are good like pool, activity area for kids, they must provide mini kitchen in the room (like in Goa Resorts). Restaurant food is really tasty but takes a lot of time to serve. Staff is very courteous handling requests on timely. All the 24 rooms are in same category, if you get the room near/next to spa it's has good view, hope I will get the same in my next visit. Surely I visited again & had a wonderful stay. Thanks a lot.
The location is excellent and the party games offered were good. There was buffet on independence eve and the people are very friendly. The only drawback is that there is no kitchen facility unlike in other locations (Goa for instance) of the same resort group (Royal Karma). As a result, you are forced to eat in the restaurant itself. The food is good in the hotel, but if you are staying for a week or more, you may not want to have breakfast and other every day at the restaurant - for various reasons - you may be heading out early in the morning and the restaurant may not be open. It opens only by 7:30 AM each day.
Beautiful Resort located on kerala Backwater. Clean and spcious rooms & bathrooms.
Best Experience: Good Location and excellent facilities, and rooms.
Worst Experience: We ate breakfast in the resturant. Front desk said that it opens at 7:30 AM. When we went there, noone thers and no food. When we went back at 8:20 AM, food was COLD!. No resturant staff available to talk to. Overall sfood & service in the resturant unacceptable. Irrisponsible staff.
I had visited this hotel for personal purpose. The hotel was located far from the city. The hotel building was traditional. The hotel appearance was very good. Check-in and check-out was not delayed. The overall service was very good in the hotel. Behaviour of the staff was friendly and co-operative. Room service was done on time. Room was well maintained. All basic amenities were provided in working condition. WiFi facility was available in the room. The food was complimentary in the hotel. I had vegetarian food in the hotel. Gym was not good in the hotel. Indoor and outdoor games were not arranged by the hotel. It was a very good. I would suggest this hotel to improve the activities. I had booked this room by online.
