In Five-star hotels, below are some necessary conditions that should be applied:-
All rooms (100%) should have Air-Conditioners
Suites - Minimum 2% of room block with a minimum of 1
Minimum size of bathrooms should be 45 square feet
Some rooms should have bathtubs
Hair Dryers should be available in rooms
Safe keeping should be available in rooms
Minibar / Fridge is mandatory in rooms
Heating and cooling to be provided in public areas and temperature should be between 20 to 28 degree celsius
Grade A cities:
One multi-cuisine restaurant-cum-24 hr coffee shop / all day diner, one specialty restaurant and 24 hr room service.
Grade B cities:
One multi-cuisine restaurant-cum-coffee shop open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., one speciality restaurant and 24 hr room service.
Note: The Ministry of Tourism may review and revise the cities falling under the Grade 'A' & Grade 'B' from time to time.
Grade A: Delhi*, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Pune, Hyderabad/ Secunderabad.
*Delhi would include the hotels falling in Gurgaon, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, NOIDA and Greater NOIDA.
Grade B: Cities in the rest of the country excluding Grade 'A' cities.
There should be a bar present at the hotel premises.
In the kitchen, wet garbage area to be air-conditioned.
Percentage of supervisory staff should be minimum 80% and hotels of Five-star category should have formally qualified Heads of Departments.
Percentage of skilled staff should be minimum 60%. The supervisory or the skilled staff may have training or skill certification as follows:
i. Degree / diploma from Central or state IHM's / FCI's or from NCHMCT affiliated IHM's or from other reputed Hospitality schools.
ii. Skill training certificate issued under the guidelines and scheme of the Ministry of Tourism.
Staff restrooms (Separate for male and female employees with bunk beds, well-lighted and ventilated), Staff locker rooms and dining area are mandatory.
Inhouse Dry- cleaning / Laundry services are mandatory.
Iron and Iron Board should be available in the room.
Paid Transportation on call - Guest should be able to travel from hotel.
Shoe cleaning service facility to be provided for in house guests.
Newspapers should be available in the rooms.
Shop / kiosk - Five-star hotels to have one utility and one souvenir shop. 4 Star to have
minimum one utility shop.
There should be bookshop available.
For Five-star category, it would be 'Necessary' to have an X-Ray Machine at the guest entrance for screening of baggage. Manual checks may be conducted for staff and suppliers at designated entry points
There should be Under belly scanners to screen vehicles.
Each bedroom door fitted with lock and key, viewport / peephole & internal securing device. A safety chain / wishbone latch is acceptable in place of viewport / peephole.
A telephone for incoming & outgoing calls in the room is Mandatory. Five-star hotels should have direct dialing and STD/ ISD facilities.
In room internet connection / dataport is mandatory in Five-star hotels and there should be Wi- Fi wherever possible.
There should be a business center for business meetings. This should be a dedicated area.
(This provision may be relaxed for resort destinations, tourist and pilgrimage centres).
Swimming pool is mandatory for Five-star hotels. This can be relaxed for hill destinations. Mandatory that trained Lifeguard to be available. Board containing do’s & dont's, no diving sign, pool depth etc. should be displayed at a strategic location in the pool area.
Conference Facilities are mandatory for Five-star hotels
We had looked at the pics in their website before we went there. It looked good and so we thought we shall give it a try. The location is exactly as it looks in the pictures. The ambience is great and their service is great. Whats most impressive about this resort is the attention to every little detail that they have given. This is simply amazing, the decor etc is very simple, soothing and relaxing. We liked our stay so much we extended it by whatever little extra time we had before we caught our flight back and enjoyed every bit it. We had a great time in the sun, sand, moonlight, sunrise. Well you name it :). We highly recommend you take a vacation there sometime.
Best Experience: The sunrise, moonlight, the lunch / dinner at the wharf .... thats an awesomely romantic restaurant.
I visited this hotel in the month of February 2016. I went to the hotel with my friends and it was holiday trip. I would rate the destination as excellent. I liked the light house. My hotel location was average it was not clean. I would rate the appearance average. There were problem with many facilities like television. The front office was below average I believe there was no front office. I would rate the room around average, as it was spacious. I would rate the service very good. The staff were on time. The food facility is good and they served it according to me taste. I would suggest them to organise some adventures activities. The hotel stay was not that bad.
Overall experience was excellent in this hotel and management given the warm welcome and welcome drinks. I had homely experience and provided telephone facility and all other facilities. I had visited this hotel for official purpose. The rooms were spacious and pillow, bed sheet cleanliness was excellent. The staff behaviour was helpful and friendly. There is health club event and many other activities organized by hotel. There is a pool view seen from the room. Stay was comfortable and given discount coupon for next visit. I like to visit again and again. There is no delay with check in and check out process. This hotel is valuable for money. All services were excellent and there is no suggestion about this hotel.
My stay at this hotel was in May month 2016. It was a holiday trip with my family. We visited this destination because Mahabalipuram is a historical city and there are beaches around to enjoy. I would rate the destination very good, as I liked the hotel at this destination. My hotel location would be excellent as it is on the edge of beach and very clean. Appearance rating would be excellent since it was a clean hotel and. The front office is excellent it was maintained and people are supportive. I booked the room through booking. Com. I would rate the room very good, as it was a beach view room and spacious. I would rate the service very good even though it was costly they gave good service and the staff were supportive. The food would be excellent whereas it was spicy and varieties were available. There were all the activities available like swimming pool gym spa and I would rate it very good because I did not avail those facilities.
