The stay at Usha was a very relaxing, with the pleasant weather making the stay all the more enjoyable. Even, when the mid day sun was at its hottest, a dip in the cool waters of the swimming pool, ensured that we beat the heat. The food there was very homely and the poolside dinners, with live music (courtesy Ranu) made it a really memorable experience.
Best Experience: I had the Holi weekend in mind, while doing my bookings. Believe me, these guys ensured that we had a very enjoyable but safe holi. There was live singing, Dhol & table players, recorded music, Thandai and lots & lots of DRY Colour, which could be easily wiped off.
Worst Experience: While there were no WORST experiences with the hotel stay....the monkey menace is very much evident in Matheran....so much that the hotel has warnings pasted all over advising guests to be xtra careful with these creatures. Could be just a little dangerous for kids.
Location of this hotel was very comfortable. Hotel interior was good. Hotel surrounding was nice. Booking and staff was cooperative and helpful/ Staff was good in behaviour and helpful. Room was well furnished and spacious. Food was not fine taste and variety wise. Food was arranged in buffet system. It was my relaxing holiday with my family in June 2013. Nice view was visible from the room. All basic amenities were present in the room such as geyser, AC, TV, bed, blanket, etc. Everything was fine there only food issue there. Swimming pool, music and other extra activities were available in the hotel. They did not arrange any sighting trip. This place is very peaceful and value for money and I will recommend this destination for everyone. This hotel was a three star property. They should be arranged food varieties like Chinese, continental etc. This hotel is recommendable and worth money paid.
This was our second trip to matheran, it is kind of very nice and cool place to visit, if you realy like nature and traveling. Matheran is place for 'peace of mind'. This time We(me and wife) visited matheran in May, but it was cool hear, because of suraunded long trees. When you plan to visit matheran be prepaired for trekking and if not be ready to pay for horses, because vichiles are not allowed here.
Best Experience: We stay in Royal Hotel, room were below average and not in good shape, althoug from outside it is good, with garden and sweeming pool etc. Room service was good. They server gujrati food which was ok. In evening they oragnized add Magic Show which was nice and full of fun and entertenment.
Worst Experience: I was not happy with swiming pool, when i descided to enter into if found few insect swiming on water and water was dry. When i complain them they started water filter but till that time my mood was off.
The deluxe rooms of the hotel are pathetic; its a very old building. The super deluxe rooms are in the new building and comfortable enough to stay but they aren't maintained. The rooms aren't cleaned properly after 1 guest leaves and before the next 1 comes. But the hotel staff were kind enough to shift us to super deluxe from deluxe on request by paying the difference in the fare of the two. The location is close to the market so you do not have to walk much that is the only advantage. The hotel is partially under renovation so there is disturbance at night as the roof sheets make noise because of the wind. The food is just ok; non vegetarians shouldn't opt for the hotel at all. The dining area is dirty so you do not feel like having food. It isn't worth the money you pay for, should be avoided.
