I have visited Deep jungle home with my spouse & friends. It is a perfect destination for nature lovers & who are looking for just a relaxing budget stay in jungle. Tents are good, tree house is also good. Attached bathroom options is advisable, for that family tent is good option as we have booked the same. We have stated from Bangalore by train to Mysore & boarded bus from Mysore (Ooty bus). (You can take direct bus from Bangalore to Ooty) Stopped at Gudalur bus stop(request stop). From bus stop 1. 5km, you can have a walk or take auto. (On the way view is really good). If you want safari, resort people will arrange car for transportation. Advices:. 1. If you want to consume liquors better carry with you. (Chat too). 2. Must try barbeque chicken & camp fire. 3. Must take a nature walk at early morning. (6am to 7am). 4. Better avoid this place if you are travelling with baby or aged people. Good for young & enthusiastic groups. 5. Plan short trip. Dislike: Water for bathroom use. Water was not clean, it was muddy. End I will conclude the place is ultimate value for money, if you are looking for luxury, this place is not for you. If you are looking for a fun & budget trip, go for it & explore the beauty of nature.
We, a team of 7, booked this hotel for 2 days and a night. It is approx 2 km inside from the check post in main road. Surrounded by moderate jungle, paddy fields, areca nut form. Rooms are of 3-4 types, namely, tent, bamboo hut, Swiss tent and tree house. Food was average. Fun activities includes shuttle badminton, volleyball, kayaking, jungle walk, bonfire. Huts weren't that clean. Shared toilets for huts & tents. Tap water was dirty. Service people were good enough to do their best. Jungle walk & bonfire are memorable.
Tent was well ventilated with Net windows on sides
Visited Deep Jungle Home During Dassera vacation along with two other friend families. The location was very good almost inside the forest the campus was full of greenery. We had booked the Swiss tents located right in front of a stream and. The room balcony was facing the stream where lot of birds visited . Behind the stream was the Mudumalai forest green and beautiful . . The Swiss tent provided an adventures experience along with comfort. The interiors of the Swiss tent was great with good bedding wardrobe, dressing table and cloth hanger. The tent was well ventilated with Net windows on 4 sides There were about 4 young and enthusiastic room boys at service. The manager here was friendly and helped us with finding many birds We enjoyed Kayaking, Trekking and safari. During trekking we were bitten by Leaches that was kind of a bad experience the trekking guide carried a pouch of salt which we used to clear off the leaches. We were lucky to see a herd of Bison and wild Dogs. During the trek. Crossing the Moyar river on hanging bridge was fun Food was of average Quality not many varieties. Few Items like chicken gravy and Biryani tasted good, But the idli, Veg gravy was not so good
visited Bandipur last month when my grand children were here for a short vacation at my place in ooty. Since we all liked adventure and wildlife we decided to choose deep jungle home for our stay. The has a good camping experience with basic facilities suitable for experience jungle stay While booking we were under the impression that this camp is located in Bandipur but the actual location is mudumalai wildlife sanctuary about 20 Km from Bandipur. Since the road leading to deep jungle home from bandipur runs inside the forest , It was more like safari on the was to reach our camp site.
Best Experience: What we liked about Deep Jungle home
1, The campus is rich in wildlife. we spotted more than 20 different bird species, 4 different varieties of frog, 5 types of lizards. T he naturalist here showed us a trinket snake also. 2, Thrilling night walk experience. Since the campus is in middle of the jungle we could here wild elephant calls and Deer alarm calls. This made our night more thrilling and exiting 3, The Staff at deep jungle home are helpful and kind. 4, Various adventure activities like kayaking , bamboo rafting, low rope course that the children enjoyed 5, Roof open bath rooms for fresh air and view of the trees. while in the loo.
Other out side the campus activities that we enjoyed include
1, Jungle safari - We were lucky to sight a leapord and see two tuskers fighting 2, Trekking - The route was excellent as we trekked along the moyar river. spoted deers drinking water from the river was good to see. We also saw some tiger pug marks along our rout. Trekking is arranged by the manager at deep jungle home on request. The charges are 250Per Person which is on the costlier side but worth the money 3, Sight seeing visit to gopal swamy temple- We really enjoyed the chill climate on this green grasy hill.
Worst Experience: What we did not like about this place
1, The water in the tap is reddish in colour 2, The camps gets slushy after the rain, 3, there was no variety in breakfast and lunch menu
Stayed at deep jungle home for two nights. It is more a camp site than a resort. The camping tents looked cute but was not spacious enough to sleep three people so we shifted to the swiss tents. The swiss tents was really comfortable and spacious. Looked like a tent from out side and had all amenities like a dressing table , wardrobe, cots, pedestal fan and attached bathroom. The bath room was an open roof bathroom where you can have a view of of the trees. I felt really good and like using the bathroom with lot of fresh air.
Right in front of the swiss tent was a stream so early in the morning we could see lot of birds around the tent. and the best thing was we saw two male stags fighting right in front of our tents.
The place was calm and admirable best suitable for nature lovers and birdwatchers.
Best Experience: viewing deer and birds from the accommodation unit balcony in front of the swiss tent facing the stream good food friendly staff
Worst Experience: Stained pillow covers lot of noise made by a group of corporates who stayed in bamboo huts
