The Shanti Home is definitely a good option for a first time visitor to Delhi or India . We purchased one of their all inclusive packages and consisted of: airport pickup room and buffet breakfast for 4 nightsa dinner for 2 people Ayurvedic massage for 2 people chauffeur driven day trip to Agra and Taj Mahalchauffeur driven day trip of sights and sounds in Delhi city. Our flight to Delhi was a bit delayed, causing us to arrive in the early morning hours, and the driver from the hotel was waiting there for us. He spoke some English, and thankfully there was almost no traffic that time of night, so we were at the hotel in no time . Even though we arrived at the hotel around 3am, we were still greeted warmly with a welcome drink, flower saround the neck and a spot of paint on the forehead (please forgive me for not knowing the correct terms of names for that). The check in process was quick and easy since the deposit was paid before hand and the remaining outstanding balance settled upon checking out. We were shown to our room which was the Bollywood room (all the rooms have names) . The room had all the basics like a mini fridge, room safe, toiletries and bottled water. The bed was comfortable and the ceiling fan came in handy since it wasn't very hot out, but still a bit warm indoors . Breakfast was standard, some fruit, a selection of egg styles prepared by the chef as ordered, coffee, tea, juice, some cereals, home made yogurt this is served daily along with an Indian dish with changes from day to day . The dinner which was included in the package was prepared and served on the rooftop the restaurant only caters for guests and not for outside people . The dinner was basically a series of dishes and curries to try - a sort of introduction to Indian food. The portions were a decent size and we could just finish the four courses - we were even asked/encouraged to have some more but we could not manage to eat anymore! Our day trip to Agra started pretty early in the morning -since it is a 4 hour drive to get there. The driver did make a stop at a garage and roadside restaurant wherewe enjoyed a surprisingly nice cup of coffee and toasted sandwich . Upon arrival at the Taj quarter, the driver told us that there are 2 entrance gates to the premises and that he would stop at the smaller gate - less touts and scams to deal with. The drive to Agra was smooth and uneventful - on the way back to Delhi stopped again at a roadside restaurant to stretch the legs a bit - and then upon reaching the outskirts of Delhi did we encounter the dreaded Indian traffic. This added a bit of extra time to the return part of the outing . We also did the city tour of Delhi, but we changed the itinerary a bit, since we were not all that interested in everything, so we started out with the Chandni junction market. Getting there took quite a bit of time, and when we were done there once again we were stuck in the traffic, so we just asked the driver to drop us off at Connaught Place where we walked around and made our own way back using the metro system which was actually quicker than sitting in traffic . The owner of the hotel is a wonderful and friendly woman - gave some very helpful advice, tips and suggestions. Anil was always there to greet with a smile and help whenever and where ever he could . This establishment does not encourage tipping they have a tip jar in the lobby and upon checking out can deposit money in there which is shared amongst all employees . The staff are all very friendly and helpful, especially the chefs at the rooftop restaurant - management even insisted one of the men accompany us to the metro station to show us the way to walk and also ensure that we purchase the correct cards.
Warm staff treatment. Cut the pretentious smile and special attention accorded to occupants of most expensive rooms. A good hotel exudes warmth of staff, not because they're paid to be hospitable, but because guests are treated the way they should be, from little things like offering things they anticipate you will need and not because you asked for them. Honest information. Hotel staff are among the most velvet ed of local information. Less-known tourist traps tourists should avoid, insider information on best places to go (best places to view the sunset, best places to propose to a girlfriend, and so on). In an age where restaurants and local tour companies could bribe front-desk staff into including them in the itinerary, tourists appreciate honest piece of information. Extra assistance in case of emergencies. What will your hotel do in case you missed the flight and need to stay one more night? How does it respond to a medical emergency? Incidents like these are sometimes beyond their service to you but prompt attention is always a hallmark of a good hotel experience. They don't have to squeeze you in if they're really fully booked but, at least, they'll try to arrange for your accommodations on a nearby hotel. Guests feel at home. It be nice if you're staying in a hotel as though it was your home? When you wake up and shower, your breakfast is ready, complete with complementary morning paper, shoe shined and smile from the? Many hotels claim of away from home' but do not practice it in reality. Those who do, unfortunately, are going to charge a fortune for such experience. Indeed, there's no place like home. Great location. Although somewhat a luxury these days, only five-star, expensive hotels occupy the most convenient part of town. But since we're talking of good hotels, it matter whether they're on a shoestring budget or only fit for a king. Obviously, hotels with great location saves time, money and effort to do a lot of things such as shop, reach attractions and faster transport connections. Clean and orderly. Do we need to mention this? We think so. Good hotels are clean hotels. From dining halls to washrooms, hotels that exude positive characteristics must have got these covered. And cleaning staff are not forced to clean rooms quickly. Straightforward service. When we say this, we mean hotel does its work plus extra without charging extra. If guests request for extra towel or WiFi connection, staff will gladly offer you in a heartbeat, without charging more, which appears opportunistic like charging a worth of Internet connection for 24 hours of online connectivity.
It is a five star Hotel. Rooms are good and well maintained. I booked a Deluxe room and they have provided one old type two single cot bed room. I insisted to shift to a King size bed, as I am staying there for three nights. They refused to do it immediately and shifted to another room on following day only which seems to be a renovated room but without Bath tub. Earlier one had a Bath tub. I presume that they have shifted me to a standard room but renovated one. Though both the rooms were good. The way they handled few of my queries regarding were really horrible. I booked for Buffet Breakfast specifically while booking it through Goibibo travel portal. While booking they never had any option to choose Wi Fi connection. I did two Hotel booking one at Mumbai for one night and another one for three nights at Delhi. When I insisted to this Hotel when my room is booked for Buffet breakfast you should also provide Wi Fi also to me. They simply refused it and insisted that I need to pay for it. When I quoted an example how Ramada Hotel at Mumbai where I stayed for a one night they voluntarily provided it without me asking for it. It is a same type of booking and from Goibibo site only. They were repeatedly quoting it is our Hotel policy. I spoke to some Manage by Name Mr. Abhishek after losing my energy with another front office person. His answer neither different and it is same old story and policy matter. These people do not have any power or authority to decide anything. They simply say that our Hotel Policy does not allow to provide Wi Fi connection. After two days of my stay I was forced to call my residence from the Room Telephone. It ended up going to my answering machine at my residence. I was forced to make this mistake since my Mobile batter was completely drained out and it was late in the night. When I checked the bill at that time of checkout I was shocked to note that they have charged me Rs. 172/- for this one call from Delhi to Chennai for two seconds. It reached only my answering message hence I disconnected it immediately. In this Mobile world is it not horribly expensive to charge Rs. 172/- for a single call. When you check the Room Menu there is nothing available below Rs. 799/- for a vegetarian dish. One bread costs Rs. 350/-. In totality you need to spend Rs. 1500/- plus tax for one dinner. It has good well maintained Health Club and a nice lawn to go for a morning walk or treadmill. Excellent spread of Buffet breakfast. These two I really enjoyed. However I will think twice to stay in this hotel again due to its costly food and other charges.
Karol Bagh metro station was available in the surrounding of the hotel. Staff behaviour was very good and I had no issue about their services. Booking and front office services were smoothly done. Interior and exterior look of the hotel was good as per charges. Location of the hotel was good and it was situated in the city and also very close to the bus stand and railway station. I faced no problem to find this hotel. Room was spacious, neat and tidy. Blanket, pillow and other furnishing were fully furnished. All basic amenities were available like TV, AC, geyser, etc and they all were in working condition. Nice view was missing from my room. I stayed there many times. Staff cleaned the room on a daily basis. Hot and cold water facility was available there for 24hrs. I had my food outside the hotel and it was nice but costly. Restaurants were available near to the hotel. It was a small hotel. Nothing was available in activities. Parking facility was not available there. They provided the cab facility for sightseeing trip if we want.
I went to Delhi to attend my interview there. My friend suggested me to stay at this hotel. It was a very good stay there. Nice location and easy connectivity with better food and shopping options are nearby the hotel. It was sure value for money option and nice service and nice clean rooms. As it is located in Karol bagh, it was around a busy place, but the environment of hotel was really good. Also the service and behaviour of their employees was notable one. The quality of hotel staff, their behaviour was the one which attracted me the most about this hotel. My room was very big and the scenery from the window was quite mind relaxing. As it was my first stay in Delhi, it was quite enjoyable for me to stay at this place in Karol Bagh. It has purely cleaned room, an AC in my room and a big bathroom for relaxing my tired body :) I just enjoyed my journey and will recommend everyone to make a stay there to enjoy their quality service.
