"Good experience"

4.3/5

Posted 9 March, 2016

On the whole, our train travel experience in India was excellent, unlike much of the rest of our journey. Trains ran pretty much on time, we were always booked into our berth without any issues, and it was reasonably comfortable. In fact, our travelling by train between our destinations was our little sanctuary away from the madness that is India. Some of that madness is great, but a lot of it is not nice at all, & in some cases it's downright criminal.

"Beautiful road journey"

3.6/5

Lansdowne is a weekend getaway from Delhi/NCR which can be planned if you have 3 days in hand. It is a cantonment town in the Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand. Not crowded much. Army cant area. Off-road adventures. Hotels in between the jungles. Bird watching is also great. Scenic and peaceful.

"Too many mosquitoes in sleeper"

2.5/5

Posted 6 May, 2015

The train started from Delhi Sarai Rohilla at 9:30 pm and reached Kotdwara at 6:30 pm. The train compartments were full of mosquitoes and it's advisable to book AC coach rather than sleeper. Don't forget to take a bed sheet if you have booked a sleeper ticket. The train takes too long to reach Kotdwar considering the distance of mere 200-230 km. It stops at too many stations in between. Also the halt time is too much for every station. Certain compartments are added and removed for Haridwar because of which there is a long halt as well. The train was late by half an hour so reached at 6:30 am. There are no facilities in train in terms of food or tea. But since it stops at a number of stations so that is not a problem.

"Journey by train was one of the best experience in the hilly areas"

5.0/5

I traveled by train because it was the shortest path and the sight seeing of the mountains was awesome. The train terminated at Dehradun and from there we have to board bus. The bus service was too good with full of enjoyment. Once in a life everyone should visit here.

"Pleasant travel and had a memorable experience "

We reached Kotdwara by 14041 at 6 Am. This train leaves Delhi Jn (Old Delhi) at 22:15. We got freshen up and had parathas in breakfast in local hotel. At 8:00AM, UTC bus was ready to board to Lansdowne. We took this bus, enjoyed the way to Lansdowne with pleasant hill roads. There are shared jeeps also available for one who hurries around. We reached hotel around 9:30 and checked-in to hotel. While returning, at 5 Pm, bus is available to Kotdwara back. There is transportation, but only specific times.

"Train was on time but condition was bad"

Train was on time but the train condition was not good. We enjoyed the journey because we were in a group. The toilet was not clean and nothing was available in the train. Train coaches were not clean. The security was not proper too.

"Comfortable journey to Lansdowne"

We boarded the train at around 10:30, and reached Kothdwar at around 6 in the morning. You can easily have a good night sleep (provided you take care of your belongings). Also, no need to carry food, though a blanket may be helpful. In morning, you'll be ready for the journey ahead :)

"Lansdowne trip via Kotdwara"

5.0/5

Posted 1 December, 2014

A year back, we group of three travel freaks have decided to visit Lansdowne and by train so that we can enjoy all over the night in train there. We reached Kotdwar early morning. From Kotdwar we had to take local transport to reach Lansdowne which is just 30 km from Kotdwar. Jeeps and buses are frequent between them. So, not a hassle for us. Still we decided to explore Kotdwar also as when we stepped out of railway station, a small market but full of gesture made a very good impression. As we discussed with the local resident there, we came to know that Siddha Bali temple is very famous there so we have decided to see the temple and most of our surprise, a wonderful scenic beauty around the temple made us speechless. Also, a church near the temple is a memorable structure. Most of the surprise, a small but well-maintained Coffee-house at the hill-top is amazing. We haven't imagined this. In evening, after having all the fun, we reached Lansdowne finally and stayed at which is one of the best place of Lansdowne to stay-in. Full of life and soul-relaxing natural beauty is just in your reach. We are very much satisfied with the food-stuff there and also the services provided. I've attached snaps also for this wonderful experience.

"Journey WasComfortable and On Schedule "

It was nice and comfortable. Train stops at few stops, but it was all okay. This train starts at time, reaches on time. The Haridwar railway station is clean, you can have tea and some snacks from small stall over there, can get taxis or cabs easily from there, they have there own fix charges - they are not on the kilometre basis. There are a lot of hotels and food stalls on the main market which are really close-by from station.

"Slow Train , Good Train"

2.9/5

Posted 8 April, 2014

Haridwar to Delhi is something around 250 kms. It takes hardly 5 hours to reach, if you travel at a decent pace. But almost all of the trains from Delhi start at very wierd timings, which leave you stranded in Haridwar at really wrong timings. Thanks to Mussorrie Express now. It leaves at a perfect time of 9 PM and reaches Haridwar at 7 AM, with a sufficient sleep in your kitty.
