"A good journey"

2.9/5

Posted 2 November, 2015

Leg room in the normal AC compartments are very less. As it took some time for my wife to confirm, I could not book 1st class AC. Maybe Indian Railways can put 2 First class SC compartments. Food servicing was good. Cleanliness was okay. But the return journey train [shatabdi] was not that good including the service of the caterers. They were shouting at the passengers. Maybe Railways needs to put the same caterer for all the trains.

"The fastest night express train"

3.6/5

Travelled in 2 Tier AC. Price was around 1090 which included taxes and payment gateway charges. The train was on time and review of the on time performance is very good. Train reaches Chennai pretty early and be aware of the illegally exorbitant rates the autos charge from this station.

"Good view through train and better option to travel!!"

3.2/5

Posted 30 July, 2015

It was travelling from a colder and a land of serene climate to the humid one.!!!! It had rained heavily at night in Chennai during both the days of my stay even then the temperature was down by just a couple of degrees. Had to travel in 2S, please prefer A/C coaches when you are travelling for the first time to Chennai.

"One of the best option to travel from Bangalore to Chennai, super-fast "

5.0/5

Posted 7 July, 2015

I had been to Chennai Central by the Lalbagh Express departing from Platform 1 at 6:35 Am. It passes through Bangalore Cantonment, Krishnarajapuram, Whitefield, Malur, Bangarpet, Kuppam, Jolarpettai, Katpadi, Arakkonam and Chennai Central. The total journey takes around 5:30 hours and this is a super-fast train. The train has 18 sleeper reserved coaches and 4 unreserved coaches. It reaches Chennai Central by 11:45 am. The places of interest in Chennai include the Chennai Egmore Museum and Fort St George. nearby places of attraction includes Kanchipuram and Mahabalipuram. Tirupati is just a 3:30 hour drive from Chennai. The major Railway Stations in Chennai are Chennai Central, Chennai Egmore and Tambaram.

It's as usual. Smooth and risk less travel. Reached Chennai on time. Train was clean. No trouble whatsoever. They offer all kind of refreshments. People inside train were all friendly. Quality of food is not great, but not bad either. Overall, a joyful experience.

"Good journey and staff are attentive"

2.9/5

Posted 3 June, 2015

Train was on time. Its timings suited me so I picked this train. Seats were in good condition. Route provided good views. Katpadi Junction was an important Station in the journey. Since it is a premium train, food was served, which was good. Toilets were clean. Coaches were well-maintained and water is offered. The staff are attentive and courteous. Journey experience was good overall.

"Wonderful journey with good sightseeing"

4.6/5

Posted 5 May, 2015

That was the first time I travelled on Double Decker train so I was very excited before the journey & was eagerly waiting for the date of journey. It was a beautiful journey. It took four and half hours by train from Bangalore to Chennai. I didn't feel bored all along the journey. The train was good just like Shatabdi. Refreshment was also good. Sightseeing was very nice on the journey so I captured enough photographs from the train.

"One of the best way to travel, on time "

3.9/5

Posted 15 April, 2015

One of the best way to travel to Chennai without even wasting your time an inch. Leaves Bangalore at 22:40 hrs and normally arrives Chennai by 4:45 Am in the morning though on major circumstances earlier by 15-20 min and late run is a very rare occasion. This is one of the well-maintained trains and getting tickets is tough owing to its timings. Board the train, go to sleep and morning you reach your destination. The coaches were good. Unreserved passengers not allowed in any of the reserved coaches and TTE are quite strict about the same. RPF too takes action against illegal boarding and hence guarantees good sleep.

"Strange disturbing sounds in the train "

3.2/5

Posted 30 January, 2015

The space for leg and in general is good. One is a 3 seater and the other is a 2 seater. But the luggage space is very unscientific. None of the routine cabin luggage fits in. It is full AC which is kept too high. I needed my shawl inside the train. Suddenly it makes strange and disturbing noise. Not only the noise, it gives jerks too. All sorts of snacks keep coming to our seat. Probably the whole train is meant for the pantry. Snack trays are there just like air plane has. At the centre it is like a dining table itself. It is all the experience in lower deck. People say upper deck is nice. But there is nothing in the reservation - only window seat option is there.
