There is everything goos about Chicago airport. Its very wide and expanded airport with thousands of plane inbound daily. The staff members on airport are with superb humbleness and gratitude. The ease of processing at the airport will definitely attracts the pessanger to pass through the airport. The air conditioning is superb. The caffeteria are a little expensive than usual, could have chance to improvise their the terrif rate. The waiting lounge at the airport is superb. The neon light used will just impart the happiness on your face. In short Chicago international airport is the best airport in world. Thanks to the government for maintaining that quality at the airport. I hope it will only improve, never detoriorate. Thanks.

A very vibrant city :)

One of the biggest cities in US and lives up to its expectations. Unlike most parts of US, this city is well connected by rail/metro. I stayed at double tree near O'Hare airport. 25mints by train to downtown. Downtown features all key tourist spots - the cloud gate / bean, navy pier, Willis tower etc. Make sure you spend a weekend here during your travel.

Chicago Overview

Located on the south-western tip of Lake Michigan, Chicago is the metropolitan city of Illinois. The metropolitan area of the city is commonly known as Chicagoland and is the third largest urban agglomeration in the United States. Spread over an area of 606.1 sq. km, Chicago is the largest city of the U.S. state of Illinois. Inhabited by 2.7 million people, it is the third most populous city in the USA.

Chicago is the county seat of Cook County, which is the second most populous county in the United States. The city of Chicago sits on a continental divide of the Chicago Portage, which connects the Mississippi River and the Great Lakes watersheds. Besides Lake Michigan, two rivers, namely Chicago River in downtown and the Calumet River in the far south side, flow through Chicago.

During the mid-18th century, the Chicago area was inhabited by a Native American tribe known as the Potawatomi. Jean Baptiste Point du Sable was the first indigenous permanent settler of Chicago.

After the Northwest Indian War, the area at the mouth of the Chicago River was occupied by a military base, Fort Dearborn. The Native Americans continuously attacked the Fort, until they defeated Chief Black Hawk in 1832. In 1833, Chicago was officially incorporated as a town and later, in 1837 as a city.

In 1870, when the railroads arrived in the city, the population of the city started increasing significantly. Just one year later, the Great Chicago Fire destroyed about 17,450 buildings across the city.

Soon Chicago recovered from the devastation and hosted the 1893 World Columbian Exposition. Presently, Chicago is the centre for business and finance in United States. It is also a major hub for industry, telecommunications and infrastructure and is rated as an alpha world city.

As the city is home to major financial and futures exchanges, it is considered as the second largest central business district in the U.S. The Chicago metropolitan area has the 4th largest GDP worldwide. Moreover, it is one of the world's top ten Global Financial Centres. The economy of the city is mostly based on manufacturing, printing, publishing and food processing industries.

Christianity is the predominant religion; however, followers of Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism and Sikhism also inhabit the city. The culture of Chicago is known for various forms of performing arts like improvisational comedy, slam poetry and Chicago blues. Chicago is visited by 1.3 million overseas visitors every year.

The best time to visit Chicago is during the summer season, which lasts from June through September. During this period, tourists can indulge in plethora of outdoor activities. Besides, holidaymakers can also plan a trip to Chicago during spring and autumn.
