Spice world

Spice garden at matale shows you the luscious cinnamons, cardamoms, pepper, coffee, vanilla, aloe vera, jackfruit plants which are used in making spices and herbal or ayurvedic medicine. The guide takes you around the garden and explains you the benefit of each plant and what all things are made. After a walk around the garden, he makes you sit and show case all products of the garden which you can buy from there shop and also free massage with any of the herbs. A word of advice think before you buy the products in the shop as there are very expensive and you can get all products in India also.

Overpriced shop

It was included as a part of itinerary, we assumed it to be really BIG spice garden but it was like sales promotional visit. The guide was informative as to how certain spices are used for ointments etc. We were given a cup of tea while walking around which tasted lovely. Towards the end we were taken to a seating area and asked us to list items what we want to buy. The shop is totally overpriced and the people did bag the items quickly and asked for money. We were careful though and once we worked it out in sterling we said no. They did try to get us to buy other things but we stood our ground and actually they were ok with it.
