Kathmandu: land of temples

I visited Kathmandu in this summer holidays. Besides being a hill station, it holds a rich culture and history within it. The city is doing good in recovering from the earthquake and historical heritage has been preserved well. The temples and palaces with the pagoda style architecture are really a different thing to see. It is really a treat to the eye.

Shopping Area

We visited Durbar Square in evening. Plazas and areas opposite old palace of Nepal were known as Durbar Square. There are three such durbar Square in Nepal and one of them is known as Kathmandu Durbar Square and other two are Patan Durbar Square and Bhaktapur Durbar Square. This is modern part of present Kathmandu where we found many roof top Restaurant, eateries, Shops and a bazaar also. Nice place to spent time.

Beautiful historic place

It is a worth seeing place in Kathmandu. You must carry a camera and a sunscreen lotion. It was too hot in Kathmandu in the 3rd week of May. The buildings in Darbar square are almost 400 years old.

Heritage Site

This place has heritage value and is now turned to a museum. There is a fee of NR 100 for SAARC country residents. Place is really worth visiting. There are many shops selling antiques, paintings etc. Also, there are few good places that have got roof top restaurants where you can sit back and enjoy a beer overlooking this place.
