    Oldest and sacred temple

Kyichu Lakhang is one of the most sacred holy sites in Bhutan. It is also one of the oldest temples in Bhutan. As one of the oldest Lhakhang it houses many important relics and most important is the 7th century statue of Jowo Sakyamuni which is said to be made at the same time as its counterpart in Lhasa, Tibet. Photography is not allowed inside the Lhakhang.
